"Yes, you did. But tell me more," he instructs, a subtle smirk appearing on his lips. I'm silent for a moment, trying to understand what his motive was.
Why did he want to know about my necklace all of the sudden?
I couldn't really lose anything from telling him at least a bit about it. And if I did tell him, I could actually get it back, which was what I wanted most right now.
"It was.. My mother's. Before she died, she gave me all of her prized jewelry, and this was one of her favorite necklaces." I explain softly, looking away.
Vader's eyes were on me the whole time I had spoken. His expression softened as I spoke, the change barely visible. He looks at the necklace for a moment, before his gaze returns to me.
"What about your father? Does he know you're here?" He asks softly, narrowing his eyes on me slightly. I shake my head a bit, sighing.
"He's dead, too. Died during the Clone Wars." I explain softly, looking towards the windows.
Even if there was seemingly nothing to look at in space, I still found some comfort in it. Each star was a planet, each with its own life on it. And there were a billion stars visible, all of them so different yet connected by being here in this galaxy together.
I could feel Vader's eyes on me, thinking. Finally, my own eyes return to his, and I hold out my hand for the necklace. Slowly, he brings it to my hand and carefully sets it down in my palm.
His fingers brush my skin for a moment, a charge of something fluttering through the tiny touch. His eyes widen a fraction, before he pulls away rapidly and looks off to the distance.
"You're welcome, medic." He grumbled lowly, sighing. I stand, a tiny, appreciative smile on my lips. "Thank you."
Just like that, I'm off. I got the necklace back, much to my relief. This time, I went straight back to my quarters, tucking the jewelry back in its rightful home. A breath of relief escaped me as I did so, relieved to have the necklace back and undamaged.
I was surprised that Vader had actually found it, much less given it back to me so easily. Most people I knew would've made me pay a hefty price for it back, and then scammed me because the necklace was real silver. But Vader didn't.
By this point, it was well into lunch, so I headed to the dining hall, only to see Piett sitting alone in our usual spot. I quickly go to sit across from him, a large smile on my face. He lightens up immediately as I join him, returning my smile.
"Hey, I came to get you but you weren't in the medbay. Where were you?" He asks softly, sitting up in the spot. I shake my head a bit, smiling widely. Piett was not going to believe what I had just gone through.
The rest of the day went by without much action. I had told Piett about my necklace and Vader, much to his surprise. He had told me that he was unaware Vader could actually be nice, which made me laugh.
Now, it was after dinner and I was in my quarters, taking a shower. The day had been long and boring, so this hot shower was much needed. Once I was done, I wrapped up in a towel and began to brush my hair.
A soft knock sounded out in my quarters, causing me to stop. It was almost curfew, I wasn't sure who'd be here. I forgot I was in my pajamas, and so, I headed to the door and opened it up, only to see Piett.
He stood at the door, a nervous look in his eyes. As soon as he registered that I had opened the door, his cheeks turned a deep shade of red at the sight of me. He rubbed the back of his neck, grimacing.
"Sorry! I didn't.. Didn't mean to interrupt you or-or anything.." He mumbled sheepishly, avoiding my gaze. I shake my head a bit, a tiny smile crossing my lips. He was such a shy person sometimes, it was such a drastic change to how he was at the party a few days ago.
"No, it's okay, Piett. Why are you here? It's almost curfew." I ask softly, tilting my head. Piett looks at me again for a moment, before sighing deeply. He just stood there, before he leaned a little closer to me.
His presence was warm, slightly towering over me. Our faces got closer and closer, until suddenly, his lips were on mine.
I wasn't even sure who actually kissed who. I just knew that one moment, we were gazing at each other, and the next, we were kissing. His lips were soft and warm against my own. I could feel his hesitation behind his movements, as if he was unsure of himself.
I lean closer, deepening our kiss as my hand goes to gently cup his cheek. That seems to give him more confidence, as his hand goes to my hip, pulling me even closer to him. Our chests brush, the sudden proximity warming the air around us.
He tilted his head, deepening the kiss even more. For a moment, everything was bliss. My eyes were shut, his lips on mine, and it all felt so natural. But then, before I could even process it, the sound of a loud crash down the hall sounds out.
His lips are off mine in an instant, eyes fluttering open and a soft pant escaping his lips. He looks around towards the sound, before looking back at me. A soft curse leaves his mouth as he sighs.
"I'm sorry.. I-" He cringes at himself apologising. I shake my head, a smile appearing as my hand gently leaves his cheek. "No, don't be sorry. I-I liked it." I murmur softly.
Piett's face lights up at that, smiling. He glances towards where the sound came from again, pointing to it with his brows furrowed. "I should probably go check that out.. Um, goodnight, Y/n." He says softly. I nod a bit as he squeezes my hip gently before turning to head towards the sound.
I went back into my quarters, watching the door slide shut in front of me. I'm still for a moment, before I break out into a wide grin, shaking my head as I return to the bathroom. I wasn't expecting to kiss Piett, but now that I had, I wanted to do it again.
Whatever had happened down the hall had ruined the moment, but it was okay. I had a feeling this wouldn't be the only interaction we had like this, or so I really hoped for.
Piett had always been attractive to me. He was kind, tall, sweet, handsome, and he was really smart. But I had never really thought of making a move on him. I wasn't sure of the rules for that on the Deathstar, and I didn't want to break them. But by now, I'd already broken a few of the rules.
I got ready for bed soon after, all cozied up in my pajamas and under my covers. Sleep came slowly to me considering I was too busy thinking about Piett and that kiss.
"Y/n, you will not be leaving any time soon." He said deeply, his hand tightening on my bicep. His grip was tight, firm on my skin. His presence was dark, filled with nothing but despair and sadness. He towered over me with ease, I knew that I stood no chance no matter what I did.
"No! I have to go, you cannot keep me here!" I exclaimed, struggling in his grip. He tightened it even further, bruises no doubt being left on my skin. He was unrelenting, cruel with his treatment.
Everything around us was loud, burning. People were screaming, children crying as they clung to their parents. Some watched, frozen in fear. Others ran away, seeking freedom from the current onslaught of flames being started on the village.
"Let me go!" I screamed, hot tears streaming down my cheeks. His other hand gripped my chin suddenly, forcing my gaze onto his. His amber eyes glowed fiercely, his expression firm and filled with frustration.
"You are mine."
