Y/N's POV
My first few days on the Death Star passed without much action, as Tizzy had told me. I was ordered to do a few light tasks, such as gather supplies and clean. I didn't mind this as much, considering I was still so new to everything and getting used to life here.
One thing that I noticed right off the bat was the lack of windows in the place. Sure, my quarters had a window, but it was a single window. And it wasn't big at all. You couldn't open the window, either. It faced space, so of course it was sealed shut. It was just slightly annoying.
In the halls, there were some windows, big and small. But other than the halls and the dining hall, I had yet to spot any other windows in this place. All of the windows held the same sight as well, the endless black void of stars, the coldness of space.
Back at home– Alderaan –windows filled every single room. We loved opening the windows and letting in the fresh air, letting the sun glide across our skin and warm us up. But here, everything was cold and listless.
It was safe to say that I missed my home.
Yet, I couldn't return. I was here now, working and living in this very ship. It wasn't ideal, but it was better than being home by myself. It would never be the same as it was before my mother died, I knew that. I hadn't expected it to change as much as it did, but when it did change, I couldn't keep up.
Today, I was actually going to be treating someone. Tizzy came by and warned me of a busy day ahead, as a bunch of troopers were out on a mission on the nearby planet that Piett had told me about a few days ago: Ilum.
"Darth Vader or the emperor typically plan where we go. So, if we visit a new planet, it's usually for a specific reason." Piett had explained to me the other day. We were talking about Ilum and its contents at lunch when I had asked him about why we were going to Ilum specifically.
I didn't know much about Ilum, just that it was a very cold planet. Back in school, we only learned about very important planets, such as Coruscant, Naboo, and a few others. My lack of knowledge was quite embarrassing, I suppose.
"I would assume Darth Vader is taking some troops out to the field to check for rebels or something." Piett added on thoughtfully. "Not me, though. I don't do that sort of work. Just a lot of planning and stuff. I wasn't assigned this mission, though."
So, it was safe to say I would probably be a little busy today. I was actually pretty excited to actually do something besides wait around like a little puppy dog. I sat at my desk, patiently waiting for this predicted rush to occur.
When it was nearing my lunch time, I was almost asleep at the desk. No one had come by yet, just a few troopers that were assigned to other medics for simple things, such as a sprained ankle or a case of the common cold. Maybe Tizzy was wrong, it wasn't going to be a busy day-
The sound of loud alarms blaring instantly had me bolting upright in my seat. Tizzy came running by, a worried expression on her face. "Get ready, Y/n! They're coming!" She instructs, before continuing on her little spree.
By the time she turned the corner, I could see them. Dozens of troopers making their way into the wing. My eyes widened considerably as I took in the number of troops. Many of them had wounds on several different parts of their bodies. Their crispy white armor had stains of blood and dirt covering them. They all filed into the wing, waiting for a medic to take them back into a clinic room.
I glanced around a little, unsure of where I was supposed to go or where to start. I stood, getting ready to approach a troop, when someone grabbed my arm. The grip was firm, bordering on painful. I could feel myself being dragged off and into a room.
