Y/N's POV

Before I had even had the time to truly consider my options, the perfect opportunity was presented to me: to work on the newly constructed Death Star. Rumors in my city had spread through the streets, whispers of what truly conspires on the massive war ship. But when I was given the chance to work there, the rumors were carelessly tossed aside.

The job was offered to me by someone at school. Someone had told me that the Empire was hiring a medic for the ship. It came with many benefits that certainly caught my attention. I would live on the ship, get paid weekly, and also be able to further my education by getting first hand experience.

Free housing, money, and free education? Count me in.

I practically jumped for the opportunity, finishing the school year and heading straight off for work. I didn't have much with me, just a duffle filled with my clothes and some hygiene stuff. Also, my mother's jewelry. She'd have my head if I left any of her jewelry behind.

With all of that in mind, I waited patiently at a large hangar to be picked up by an imperial ship. Once they got me, we would be headed for the flight towards my new home: the Death Star.

When I got onto the Death Star, I hadn't expected it to be so large. It reminded me of a small moon, orbiting another planet.

The inside of the hangar was gigantic and very echoey, sounds of loud voices barking out orders and ships taking off were the only thing I could hear.

The person escorting me around was named Admiral Tarkin. He was a tall, grey man with a croaking voice. I followed him around aimlessly, taking in my surroundings as best as I could. The place was so large, so unending, that I got easily lost.

"And this is the medbay. You will work here every day from nine to five. After five, you have the night to yourself. The manager of your level will be here soon." Tarkin instructed, before turning and leaving the medbay.

Great, leave the confused girl by herself. What a genius idea.

I stood and looked around, taking in the scent of antiseptic and the familiar bustling of people. Lots of people in here were wearing scrubs and a lab coat. Droids were all white and had a friendly appearance. It was a nice change from the typical sight of the nurses back home.

After waiting around for a few moments, an older looking woman approaches me. She had a wrinkled smile on her face, her brown hair peppered with grey streaks. She looked kind and sweet, which was the first person I had seen all day that looked even a smidge polite.

"You must be y/n. My name is Dr. Tizzy Justs. It's nice to finally meet you." She says, holding out her hand. I took her hand in my own, shaking it. "Hi doctor. It's nice to meet you, too."

Once we were all done with the introductions, Tizzy started to take me around the medbay. She gave me a very long, detailed tour of each floor and what they meant. I met a few of my coworkers and found out a lot of the layout of the medbay. It was some much needed learning time, as I would be spending most of my time here.

Tizzy then took me to my quarters. Since I was a medic, I would have to stay nearby in case of an emergency. She showed me how to make a code to my room, and then the inside of it. The room was bland at best. Dark grey walls, no windows, and colorless furniture. The bed was a full size with grey sheets and a white blanket.

In all honesty, the room wasn't the worst sight. Just a little tasteless compared to my old home. But, this would be my new home, and I had to get used to that. I set my bags down on the bed, mumbling a soft goodbye to Tizzy.
