Imani Averette Friday, August 13th, 10:19pm
Imani stepped inside the party, along side Amira and the aroma of weed, alcohol, and sweat hit here making eyebrows crinkle. Music boomed through out the house and enjoyed the old music that played. Most parties played new upcoming artist which she didn't mind, but this party had songs that she had mostly forgotten about. She pushed past the crowd of people, and said 'excuse me' an embarrassing amount of times before the group found an open spot in the living room for them all to stand. Keshawn, Kryslynn, Rilynn, and Iyana sat in the couch leaving the rest of them standing. Imani didn't really mind because she assumed they were all going to part ways sooner or later.
Everyone agreed that the drivers, Isaiah and Amira, wouldn't drink so everyone would still have a ride home. The main reason Isaiah agreed to drive was because he knew he couldn't handle his liquor, and whenever he was drunk he acted like a fool. He also got bad hangovers, and he really didn't want to test the waters with that. Amira didn't drink anyway, so she was always the designated driver for her friends. She didn't really mind it though, because most of the times they gave her compensation for taking good care of them when they got drunk. Just like this time, Adonis promised her he would get her food if he too too drunk. He made this deal every time, and every time Amira ended up with another DoorDash order.
"We all cool wit meeting back in three hours?" Isaiah checked, and everyone nodded their heads. After that everyone decided to walk their separate ways. Adonis, Amira, and Imani still grouped together, walking past groups of people not really sure of where they were walking to. Imani didn't like to say whether she was closer to someone in a group because she didn't like the idea of having a favorite. In her friend group now it was the same thing, she didn't have a favorite. However, she did feel more comfortable around Adonis and Amira considering she had two blocks with them, compared to how she only had one with Rilynn, and none with everybody else.
"Come one, I'm about to get us a drink." Adonis told the two girl as he started walking to find the kitchen.
"I'm not drinking anything, stupid ass." Amira reminded him. Adonis turned his head to her, and looked at her with a mocking,y shocked face. Amira rolled her eyes at him realizing he was making fun of her, and Imani stifled her laugh at the pairs antics.
"Then, obviously, I'm talking to Imani." He pointed to his head, like that was some common knowledge. They found a drink table, and Adonis and Imani weren't sure what they were putting in their cup, but it didn't matter to them in the moment. The two counted down to three before titling their heads back and tasting whatever they put in their cup.
Imani made a face, feeling the burning sensation on her throat. "It wasn't obvious to me."
Imani hadn't remembered the last time she'd been to a good house party, or the last time she was drunk. People rarely threw good parties back in Florida, and when they did it always got shut down. Imani stayed in a small part of Florida and they would annually throw an end of the year party which were some of the best parties she had been to. The on the down side is she had to drive a long way to get to there, so the drive back always felt like torture.
