Imani sat on her porch, with the three other kids sitting on each side of her. Keshawn, who was one of her best friends, sat on her right. While her older brother, Isaiah, sat on her left with her twin sister, Iyana, was sitting next to Isaiah. The four were waiting for their mothers to finish cooking the last dinner that they would share with each other. Keshawn's mom had revealed that they were leaving Atlanta to go to New York because she found a better job opportunity for her there.
None of them could believe that their best friends was moving miles away from them, instead of his house being just across the street. All four kids lived here their whole lives in this exact neighborhood, which is how they met. Keshawn would always seems the three siblings outside in their driveway, and he would feels slightly jealous that he never had anyone to play with. Isaiah and Iyana played 1 v 1's in basketball all the time since the both played, and Imani would add her commentary while spectating them. They always noticed Keshawn playing by himself, and since they felt bad he had to play by himself they invited him into their driveway.
Instantly, Keshawn clicked with Isaiah and Iyana, but it was a different story for Imani. Their first exchange was only a wave and Keshawn asking if she wanted to play with them. She turned him down because sports was just never really her thing. Keshawn would see her talk to her siblings, but when he came around she was basically mute. Isaiah and Iyana told him it wasn't personal, and that was the truth. Out of the three siblings, she happened to be the most introverted one out of them. To some people it was ironic because she's Isaiah and Iyana were very extroverted and outgoing. They were never scared to make new friends and just throw themselves out there. Imani struggled with that and she was just more reserved.
For some reason, Keshawn was determined to make friends with the girl. When he kept coming he'd try and make conversation with her, and that was one of the hardest tasks the boy had ever completed. Every time he came over he'd make a new topic for them to talk about. Over time, Imani grew comfortable with his presence, and maybe even started to enjoy his company.
Their parents started to get to know each other once they realized how close their kids were becoming. Soon enough, they'd start having family dinners together, they'd go to places around Atlanta together, they'd even started taking road trips with each other. Over the years they'd all became best friends. It was only until now they realized they would be able to see each other everyday again.
They were all deep in conversation, talking about every memory they have with each other. "Yall remember when me and Keshawn played each other, and I crossed him up so bad he fell and busted his knee?" Isaiah mentioned, making the kids laugh beside Keshawn.
