"Amira, how you gon call me ass at basketball, yet you ain't never beat me?" Imani listened to Adonis and Amira go back and forth with each other in her AP biology class.
"Amira not playing basketball doesn't take away from the fact that you're sorry?" Imani spoke, the statement sounding like a question. The comment made Amira laugh, because it typically was never her to make jokes about someone.
Adonis turned his head back, looking over at Imani. Imani laughed at his reaction, bringing her hand to her face while she laughed.
Adonis shook his head, darting his eyes between Amira and Imani. "See, we not about to start this. Y'all doing that thing where you guys gang up on me, and I don't like that,"
Amira mocked what he had said, copying notes from off of the powerpoint on her computer. Imani stifled her laugh, trying not to offend Adonis further than he already was.
Adonis looked between the two girls who were laughing, before flipping them off. "Man, fuck yall."
Imani continued copying down the powerpoint her teacher assigned as that was the assignment for the day. She couldn't help but be thankful, because this class was really messing her up. To be completely honest, all of her classes were messing her up.
She was really trying to stay on top of all of her work considering how detrimental her grades were right now. Imani was junior now and she had to start looking at colleges, and figuring out what major she wanted to do. She felt like she was behind because by now most people already know what they want to do. In terms of right now, she knew she wanted to maintain her 3.8 gpa, maybe even raise it. After the summer school felt like more of a job than it usually did.
Adonis picked up her phone, showing a party flyer she seen in instagram. "We should all go to this party tonight," he suggested, referring to the rest of his friend group, "Just to see what it's talking bout."
Amira nodded her head, "Everyone I know says he throws the best parties, I've never been tho."
"Nah, I been, his shit actually worth going to."
Amira's eyes lit up as an idea popped up in her head, "We could go to the party, then have a big sleepover at someone's house!"
Adonis tilted his head, "I mean, I wasn't gonna say that, but yeah."
"Imani are you gonna come with us? Please come" Amira pleaded, putting her hands together. Adonis copied the girls actions making Imani laugh.
