He used some intimidation tactics. He Qianqian was not very brave, and her stammering account didn't seem to be false. Her friends also confirmed the same thing.

Wei Ye once recounted how the two met and fell in love, and it was a beautiful version: Xi Yuan saved him from the zombies, took him in to protect him, and they depended on each other for survival, and their feelings for each other grew over time.

Who is lying?

Xi Yuan trusted Wei Ye, but a nameless panic crept into his heart.

He didn't want to make wild guesses, so he spoke immediately, his voice a little hoarse, "Wei Ye, the two of us..."

His heart trembled, and a sudden throbbing pain shot through his forehead. As if an electric current had surged through his mind, an image flashed through Xi Yuan's head.

He stepped into the unarmed crowd, raised his gun without a word, and killed a man, eliciting gasps of shock.

In the corner of the scene, Wei Ye crouches, his figure trembling with fear.

Xi Yuan looked pained, frowned and pressed his forehead to the spot where he had been hit with a brick.

"What's wrong? Does your head hurt?" Wei Ye asked anxiously. "Did you remember something?"

The doubt was swallowed back down, as if swallowing a mouthful of glass. Xi Yuan lowered his eyes slightly and said calmly, "No."

The two walked side by side under the moonlight, their shadows stretched and shifting under the streetlights, yet they never met.

Wei Ye looked blank. He seemed to realize that the atmosphere had become somber, and nervously tried to find a topic of conversation, "Shall we buy a new quilt tomorrow?"

This time, Xi Yuan finally gave his feedback: "Buy."

The next evening, when Xi Yuan finished his mission, he brought back an expensive new quilt, which was white and soft like a cloud.

He had been using the same blanket for a month. He lay down on the edge of the bed and smelled the lingering fragrance of shower gel on Wei Ye's body, which was rich and refreshing.

After sniffing the air for a while, Xi Yuan got up and prepared to change into a new quilt.

When I pulled the old quilt, the backpack at the foot of the bed was knocked to the ground, and the sound of it falling was unexpectedly heavy.

The bag had faded slightly; it was something Wei Ye had carried with him before arriving at the Dawn Base. The zipper wasn't closed tightly, and a corner of metal was sticking out.

Xi Yuan bent down and picked it up.

The sound of a zipper tearing through the air was deafening.

A brick and a dagger.

Since no force was needed, Xi Yuan had never seen Wei Ye use these things.

The dagger's blade gleamed, reflecting a sharp light under the lamp. A chill ran through his fingers, causing Xi Yuan's pupils to contract, and a strange image flashed through his mind once more.

A gaunt man, whom some called Skinny Monkey, pulled a dagger from the corpse he had killed and arrogantly stuffed it into his pocket.

A few meters away, Wei Ye stared at the scene, his fists clenched as he suppressed his anger.
