Xue Guangyu wasn't that heartless; he simply took Wei Ye back to his private lounge.

The spacious room wasn't furnished sparsely, but every piece was exquisite. It was Wei Ye's first time there, and he immediately spotted the large, soft sofa. Thinking of his own cramped, old room where he could barely turn around, he almost cried.
Hearing the word "sit," he practically jumped over, bounced a few times after sitting down, and sank into the sofa's soft embrace.

Xue Guangyu pressed the water dispenser button, turned around, and saw Wei Ye's satisfied expression, his eyes narrowed. Receiving his gaze, Wei Ye sat up straight instantly, placed his hands on his knees, and smiled, revealing a dimple. "Hehe, this sofa is so comfortable."

Xue Guangyu said, "Then you can sit here a little longer."

...Wouldn't the right thing to do have been to generously give it to him?
However, Wei Ye thought for a moment, then sadly realized he couldn't fit it at home.

"It's almost time to leave work; I have to go home." Wei Ye looked a little reluctant, and somewhat awkward about being in the same room as his boss. He asked, "Boss, is there something you need from me?" He held up his injured hand. "I'm not really fit to do cleaning right now, so why don't you find someone else for now?"

Xue Guangyu said calmly, "You think I look like a heartless capitalist for asking you to work while injured?"

Was this a sarcastic remark Lan Ting had made about him earlier? Wei Ye couldn't help but chuckle, quickly waving his hands, "No, no, boss, you're so kind, really, really kind."

He always spoke sincerely, his head tilted back, eyelashes fluttering, his beautiful eyes incredibly focused. Coupled with his repeated emphasis, it gave Xue Guangyu the illusion that he truly was the best person in his eyes.

Xue Guangyu smiled. "There's a whole set of new toiletries here. You can stay here tonight."

"Stay...stay here?" Wei Ye repeated blankly, "How can I stay here...it's not very convenient, is it?"

There was a door next to the lounge. Xue Guangyu went over and opened it. Wei Ye saw that it was a bedroom, the bed showing no signs of being slept in. Xue Guangyu said, "I don't live here, you can do whatever you want."

So Wei Ye happily abandoned the old, run-down apartment.

The room fell silent for a moment. Xue Guangyu stopped talking, but didn't leave either, his dark eyes fixed on him, as if one could feel the weight of his gaze. Wei Ye felt awkward under his stare, struggling to think of a way to start a conversation, when a "ding" broke the awkward silence.

It was the water dispenser's beeping sound; Xue Guangyu poured him a glass of water.

"Thank you." Wei Ye reached out to take it, accidentally aggravating his wound, letting out a soft cry of pain.

Xue Guangyu placed the glass on the coffee table in front of him. "Does it hurt a lot?"

"Not really, it doesn't hurt if you don't pay attention." Wei Ye spoke bravely, but his eyes were glistening with tears as he held his hands and whimpered pitifully.

*Waaah, it really hurts.* A work injury, and it was for an act of heroism—shouldn't he be properly compensated?
Wei Ye subtly recounted his ordeal, "The doctor said if the wound had been any deeper, I wouldn't be able to put any weight on my hand anymore. It was really close."

"Now you know fear?" Xue Guangyu looked down at him, his eyes dark and unfathomable, his tone unreadable. "How dare you rush in then?"

"I was scared, boss, you don't know, my legs were practically shaking." Wei Ye scratched his cheek sheepishly, soft strands of hair hanging by his ears, his voice weak and lacking confidence. "But in that situation, being scared wouldn't have helped."
