He stood at the back, looking somewhat surprised and bewildered. He looked around before slowing down and following behind.
Yan Weiyue narrowed his long, narrow eyes slightly, looking thoughtfully at his back.
Before noon, Yan Weiyue had calculated the data and convened an emergency analysis meeting to confirm that zombies could indeed evolve.
“That’s not all,” Yan Weiyue said. “If this evolution continues, zombies might also develop superpowers.”
The crowd gasped in disbelief.
Life is already tough enough; if zombies also develop superpowers, when will this apocalypse ever end?
Yan Weiyue pondered for a moment and said, "Even if zombies develop superpowers, the proportion will not exceed that of humans, so there is no need to be too pessimistic. What we need to do at this stage is to be prepared, respond promptly, and adapt to changing circumstances."
His voice was calm and unhurried, and his gaze was as peaceful as a spring breeze and gentle rain. He seemed to be the backbone of the group, and everyone's spirits were lifted.
Wei Ye looked around and found that, apart from himself, no one remembered what had happened before.
Yan Weiyue's gaze fell on him, and he suddenly spoke gently, "Wei Ye, what do you think?"
As soon as he spoke, everyone looked at Wei Ye.
Like a student who's been daydreaming in class and gets called on by the teacher. Wei Ye stiffened and quickly agreed, "The teacher is right!"
His nervous demeanor highlighted his youthful inexperience, and some researchers laughed at his reaction.
Yan Weiyue's lips curled up, her gaze unreadable. "Are you scared?"
Under the light, the eyes behind the glasses were a pale color. It seemed to be asking about zombie powers, or perhaps it had something else in mind.
Wei Ye forced a stiff voice, managing a weak smile, "I'm not scared."

Yan Weiyue didn't have time to rest; after lunch, he went to a meeting with the base leadership. The base immediately notified all the special ability teams of the new discovery, instructing them to act cautiously when going out on missions.
Currently, various research bases are developing vaccines, but there is still a long way to go before an effective vaccine is available.
In the afternoon, more zombies were transported into the research institute. The transport personnel were fully armed, and some live zombies were also kept in cages made of refined iron.
Yan Weiyue was resting in her office, while Han Yao was the surgeon. Wei Ye had been observing for a long time, and today he finally didn't have to record data anymore; instead, he was acting as an anatomical assistant for the surgeon.
Three hours later, as they walked out of the autopsy room and took off their protective suits, a scream suddenly came from not far away.
"Guards! Are there any superhumans here?! Help!" Several researchers cried out in panic.
Without thinking twice, Wei Ye rushed over immediately
The accident occurred at the place where live zombies were kept. When he arrived, he saw a zombie tearing open an iron cage, and the bodies of two guards on the ground.
Screams rang in my ears, "Go find Professor Yan!"
Those present were all office workers who had never experienced fighting zombies before, and some of them were completely terrified.
Two people were closest to the zombies, their legs trembling so badly they couldn't move, and could only watch helplessly as death approached.
Before the rescue guards arrived, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Help! Help!" In their extreme fear, they didn't even have time to see who it was before they grabbed the person's arm tightly.
The raised hand veered off course, and the water sprayed off the zombie's neck. Wei Ye frowned. "Let go!"
The zombies continued their rampage, howling as they charged forward. At the critical moment, they were suddenly stopped in mid-air as if controlled by an invisible force.
At the same time, a stream of water pierced the air, its power surpassing that of a high-pressure water gun, instantly penetrating the zombie's skull.
The massive body crashed down.
Wei Ye's gaze met that of the tall, slender figure at the doorway.
"Thank you... thank you, teacher." His voice trembled slightly.
Yan Weiyue, with one hand in his pocket, slowly approached, a slight smile in his eyes as he looked at him. "I should be thanking you for saving two of my generals."
The zombie fell to the ground, Yan Weiyue arrived, and several researchers dared to walk in. Han Yao looked at his two colleagues cowering in the back and said with exasperation, "Were you stupid just now! Wei Ye came to save you, why were you clinging to him and interfering with his movements!"
"I...I'm terrified." The man's legs were still trembling.
The two rescued people hurriedly thanked Wei Ye. They happened to be the ones who had mocked Wei Ye the most earlier, and their faces were flushed red.
People who do scientific research are not very cunning. After thanking him, they apologized to him in front of everyone, their tone sincere and ashamed.
Wei Ye shook his head and said it was okay, which made the two of them even more ashamed.
“There is indeed a lot I don’t know,” Wei Ye said. “If you really want to thank me, please help me catch up on my knowledge when you have time.”
The two nodded repeatedly.
