"But you aren't lying, so how come you don't know anything?" He asks, turning to face me. His arms were now crossed over his chest, one eyebrow raised in a questioning manner. I shrugged a little, crossing my own arms over my own chest. I could appear intimidating like him, I knew so.

"Because I was invited.. and I didn't ask questions." I mumble quietly, sighing. "There's nothing to do here. This party was the most fun I'd had in weeks, by the way. Your ship is boring." I add on suddenly.

My own eyes widened at my bluntness, an apology on the tip of my tongue. But before I could say it, Vader chuckled. The sound was deep and rough, the smile on his lips anything but.

"I'm aware of that, Y/n. But that's to keep my soldiers in line, to show them real discipline. That life isn't always going to be all fun and.. parties or drinking on a Friday night." He explains, walking back behind his desk and up to the shelves.

He sighs and reaches up, grabbing his own bottle of alcohol. It looked like a fancy bottle of wine, unopened and untouched. Vader went to sit back down at his desk, using the force to pop open the wine cork. He glances at me, before taking a sip.

A soft sound of satisfaction escapes his lips, his expression softening as he drinks. We were both silent, my eyes on him as he consumed the wine. His Adam's apple would bob each time he swallowed, the feature in particular something I hadn't noticed before.

Finally, I clear my throat to fill the awkward silence. "How's.. your wound? Healing better?" I ask quietly, my eyes subconsciously lowering to where the wound would be beneath his clothing. That, and his abs, which I so vividly remembered.

He pauses in his drinking, setting the bottle down carefully on the desk. A slight smirk crosses his lips as he leans back in his chair.

"You're sitting across me, in trouble for something you knew you shouldn't have been partaking in, and you're asking me about my wellbeing?" He snickers at that, scoffing and shaking his head. He was amused by my behavior, that much was obvious.

I shrugged, looking away from him. I took in the different items on the shelves behind his desk. There was one in particular that caught my eye: a lightsaber. It looked slightly burnt, but other than that, in good condition.

My attention snaps back to him, eyes narrowing slightly at his amusement.

"Well, I am your medic. Of course I'm gonna ask about it," I reply quietly. Vader hums at that, nodding.

"You're right. You are my medic."

My eyes snap up to his, his own eyes already on me. We look at each other for a moment, our gazes both intense in their own sense. Everything was still around us, a subtle tension beginning to form and bubble beneath the surface. But just as it formed, Vader looked away, rolling his eyes and gesturing to the door.

"I'll let you go with a warning. But next time I catch you doing something you shouldn't be doing, I won't be so generous." He says lowly, watching as I stand. My hand goes to clutch the necklace as I turn to leave, but instead, my hand catches on my skin.

The necklace.

It was gone, no longer on my neck.

My eyes widened in horror as I spun around in rapid speed, glancing around the office space with a quickened gaze. Vader furrowed his brows in confusion, sitting up. "What are you doing? I told you to go." He grumbled.

"My necklace! It's gone! I had it on at the party, but it's not on anymore!" I explain frantically, hurrying back over to the couch and looking over the cushions. Vader's look of confusion deepens further as he stands.

"It's just a necklace, alright? It's fine," he states simply.

I turned, looking at him with a look of pure disbelief and anger in my eyes.

"It is not just a necklace! It was my mother's and I need to find it now!" I spit out, looking back at the couch. A frown crosses my lips as my search ends up fruitless. Vader's eyes widen for a split second, before he sighs.

"Alright, alright. I'll get some of my troopers to look for it. What does it look like?" He asks quietly, stepping up behind me. I could feel his warmth radiating against my back. But I don't react to it, continuing to look around for the necklace.

"It's-it's silver.. with a heart pendant on the end.. please, I need to find it." I beg quietly, turning to look up at him. For the first time ever, Vader's expression was completely soft. His lips were downturned slightly, eyes wide and on mine.

He nodded slowly, attention never leaving me as he exhales. We were so close, I could feel his breath against my own face. "Okay, I'll have them look for it. Don't worry, it's bound to come up somewhere on the ship." His voice was soft and reassuring, as if he actually believed himself.

And I found myself believing him, too.

"Okay, okay.." I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Vader nods, before carefully reaching for the small of my back. He directs me to the door of his office, hand against my back. "Go to your quarters and check there again. I'll let you know if anyone finds it." He says quietly, opening the sliding door.

I nodded in agreement, turning to look up at him one last time.

The two of us stood, him towering over me and his hand lingering on my back. He drops his hand and turns, leaving me alone in the hallway as the door slides shut, separating us once again. I'm stood there for a moment in quiet shock, before I turn and frantically run off back to my quarters.

I had to find this necklace.
