Again, the house was quiet like how it always was when Ellie was at work. No TV on, and just me alone with my thoughts and delusions. Sometimes it's a good thing, other times not so much. So, you can only begin to imagine my excitement when my phone rings.
"Helloo~" I almost sing into the speaker, Abby on the other end quick to cut it short.
"She asked to stay the night this weekend."
"Uh... what?"
"Chelley. She wants to spend the night."
Oh.
"No fucking way."
My eyes go wide, not that I actually find it hard to believe. Abbys great, and from what I've learned about Chelley they seem evenly matched.
"Don't freak on her too hard."
Abby sighs heavily into the phone.
"I'm not gonna have sex with her. Well ..." She paused briefly, a slight hum in her tune. "- Unless she wants to."
"Oh... she definitely wants to."
I'm smiling through the phone, teasing her, but also, as much as I am not a mind reader, I also know how the femme brain works.
"How do you know?" Abby says, very quietly, and now that I'm thinking about it, she's been whispering this entire time.
I guess she is at work.
I roll onto my stomach on Ellie and I's bed, locking my legs at the ankles, and swinging them in the air.
"I saw how she was looking at you at the beach. When you took your shirt off, she tried and failed to not look for too long."
Abby was quiet for a second on the phone, and my legs stopped swinging. Shit. Did she get caught?
"You're just saying that."
"Ugh-" I roll onto my back, crossing one knee over the other, "Abby, you're hot, she's hot... obviously you're her type because let's not forget, she approached you first."
Surprisingly, she's quiet, which means she knows I'm right.
"I just don't want to freak her out. It's been a while since I've had to, well... try."
My brow raises, "You callin' me easy, Anderson?"
She laughed, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Sky, you know I love you, but yes. Arguably, you are easy."
I fake a gasp, clutching my imaginary pearls around my neck, "I'm telling my wife on you."
"Sure thing, here she is."
"What-?"
"Hey, babe."
Sure enough, Ellie's voice rang loud and clear through the phone, and I couldn't help but notice the cold sweat I broke into.
"Ellie? What the hell are you-"
"Doc wouldn't stop hounding me about coming in for a check-up, so I came during my break period to get her to leave me alone."
"She was supposed to come 2 weeks ago, but never showed!" Abby's voice could be heard in the background, quieter than Ellie's, but I could tell she was practically shouting.
"Oh..." My voice trailed off, suddenly feeling nervous.
"Well... how'd it go? Are you like... healing okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine- hey!"
Abby snatched the phone back before Ellie could get another word in. My brows furrowed as I tried to picture what the hell was happening at that hospital, and slightly disappointed that I wasn't there to see their little spit spat play out.
