It started normal, my shift at the club. The customers were non-extraordinary, and the tips even less so. What I'm trying to say is; it was a slow night, agonizingly slow since my phone had died earlier and I couldn't use it to pass the time. And honestly, I'm thankful. I mean, after this morning- the stress and anxiety of coming clean to Abby, I didn't want to have to deal with a drunken, full house of assholes harassing me, nor did I particularly want to be in reach of Ellie or Abby.
But that's when the normality of the night shifted. Abby stopped by, and at first, I thought it was just her popping by to to tell me she was being called in at work since the club is on her way to the hospital, but she didn't leave. In fact, she didn't seem like she was in much rush at all.
A little odd, sure, but I guess it wasn't always out of the usual. I tried my best to keep some sort of a distance, not like she was trying to get too close. She looked satisfied just saying further back, hidden just shy of where the shadows concealed her presence, enjoying a glass of whatever Donna convinced her to order, and watching.
Who am I to tell a grown ass woman what to do or where she and cannot be?
Suit yourself...
About an hour or two had passed, traffic had increased only slightly, and Abby was on number who-fucking-knows-drink, Donna chatting her up as usual.
I was starting to feel bad, so, being the kind, and merciful roommate/ best friend I was, I stepped in.
"Woah there... are you going to be able to make it home in one piece?" I asked light hearted, placing a hand on Abby's shoulder as I wedged in between them.
Her eyes widened as she saw me, throwing an arm around my shoulder like she had forgotten why she came here in the first place.
"Oh my god... I've been looking everywhere for you."
Oh good.
She was drunk...
I exchanged a glance with Donna, mine being "what the fuck is wrong with you" and hers more so of a smirk like she was delivering my Karma on a silver fucking platter.
"We were just catching up." Donna quips, smirk still ever lasting.
"So I see..."
I look at Abby, her reflexes falling a few seconds behind before she catches my glance, "Cmon... let's lay you down in the back."
I lifted her arm over my shoulder and held her hand tightly once I realized just how unsteady she was on her feet. It was pretty unusual for Abby to get this drunk, and I thank god for that because our size differences made it damn near impossible to keep her upright.
I had just gotten her big hunk of a body turned around when I hear my name being called in a voice that I definitely wasn't expecting to hear tonight.
"Sky?"
I look over my shoulder, past Abbys bicep, almost letting Abby fall as my grip loosens.
"Ellie? What the fuck-"
Her hands immediately hovered in front of her, apologies spewing from her lips.
"You left your charger and I didn't know when you'd be back. Shit- I'm sorry."
My initial frustration leveled once I saw the charger in her hand, and that was also about when Abby seemed to sober up.
"The fuck are you doing here?"
Abby lanched herself forward, the weight of her leaving me causing me to stagger a bit from the force she used.
I tried calming her down, but it was obvious to me that the anger wasn't enough to level the alcohol in her system since my advances went mostly unnoticed.
