The invisble string theory

Start from the beginning

Keshawn kissed his teeth, "Man, I tripped over your foot! You ain't never locked me up." the boy protested, making Imani snicker. Keshawn and Isaiah played on the same basketball team, so they never really got to go head to head and see who was better. So whenever they were in the driveway they'd play each other to prove who was better. It always ended in a rematch, and now they were both tied for wins.

Keshawn looked over at Imani, who was trying to stifle her laugh. "What you laughing for? You still ain't beat me in mario kart." the boy teased, making her roll her eyes. The rest of them laughed, remembering all the times Imani rage quittted whenever she played Keshawn.

"Because you cheat!" she tried to defend herself, while everyone still laughed at her.

"Yall remember when we had to pull over on the highway so Isaiah could pee in the grass cause there wasn't a gas station for another ten miles?" Iyana brought up, immediately laughing when it left her mouth. Isaiah shoved her shoulder, while everyone laughed together.

"We said we was never gon talk about that!" he remarked, and all she did was shrug. "That's how it is? Yall remember when was at that hotel and Iyana pretend to drown so the life guard would kiss her?" Isaiah brought, as Iyana let out a sharp gasp. Keshawn and Imani were both wheezing at the memory and how the two siblings were going back and fourth with each other. "And the life guard was a girl!" the boy didn't fail to leave out a detail.

Imani felt a tear leave her eye from how hard she was laughing, "Guys, stop I'm gonna pee!" she warned trying to slow down her laughter.

Isaiah looked at her with a playful grin on his face while Iyana was still trying to process the fact that he remembered that. "Isaiah you got three seconds before I shove my foot so far up your-" Iyana was cut off by her mom, Summer averette, telling them that dinner was ready.

Not one kid spared a second to hurry into the house and make themselves a plate. Summer laughed at the four, closing the door behind them. Keshawn's mom had already made plates for them, and sat them on the table. Imani sat next to Iyana, and Keshawn sat next to Isaiah. They prayed over the food before everyone's forks started poking on their plate. Nothing was heard at the table except for Isaiah's obnoxiously loud chewing.

Imani had mugged the boy looking at him eat, "Thats nasty, chew with your mouth closed." the girl commented, with a disgusted tone.

Isaiah rolled his eyes, "Why you all up in my business?"

"Cause I can hear your business all the way over here." she shot back, and before Isaiah could say anything back their mom butted in.

"Stop arguing over the table," she told them, used to their antics by now, "and Isaiah she's right. It's no reason for me to hear you chewing over here."

Keshawn laughed at his friend, "Yeah I don't wanna hear that."

Isaiah just shook his head, continuing to eat his food with his mouth closed this time. While everyone finished their food faster than normal, Imani poked around her food. Knowing that one of her best friends, well maybe her only best friend, was leaving didn't sit right with her.

Imani really did see Keshawn as family, and she treated him as such. He was one of the only people who weren't her family that saw who she truly was. He was able to break through her walls and see a version of Imani not many people saw. The version of her that was witty, playful, and quite talkative. She never thought she could be herself around people who weren't family, but Keshawn showed her different. For that, she was beyond grateful.
