Nya's POV

"Because... I love you, Nya d'Analov."

What? Since when? How can he just hurl comments like this at me like it means nothing?

Then... It sunk in. Zach wasn't kidding. He was dead serious.

"And... I think you feel the same way about me."

Suddenly, everything made perfect sense.

This is why Steve was jealous. Why Zach didn't push me away when I leaped into his arms that night. This is why... Why I always felt safe with him. Why he made me feel all bubbly inside.

And I knew at that moment, that, even though I had denied it to myself thousands of times over in my head, I loved Zach back.

He leaned in. I copied his movements.

But, just before our lips touched, I heard a noise.

Grrrr.

Holy, Notch. Not now, not now.

Zach pulled back. He stared at me for a while.

"Let's go kill some mobs." He said. I smiled, and he smiled back.

I grabbed my trusty bow, Esme, and Zach fetched his iron blade, Esmeralda. Long name, I know.

We slowly climbed down the vines until we reached the foot of the tree. But, surprisingly, there was nothing. No mobs, no sounds, nothing suspicious.

It seems I spoke too soon.

At first I saw one. Then another, then another. It only took a few moments for the zombies to completely surround us. Zach's face fell.

"Alright, Nya. Let's kick some zombie ass."

And he charged into battle.
