The throne room of HorrorLand had never looked so sinisterly majestic.
All around, monstrous guests filled the space—row upon row of spectral figures, fanged beasts, scaled dignitaries, undead aristocrats, and shadow-born horrors who had served beneath Slappy's rule for decades... and feared him longer still.
Yet tonight, there was no fear in the air.
There was anticipation.
The dark aisle leading toward the thrones was slick obsidian, reflecting the flickering blue flames of the chandeliers overhead.
Spiders had spun long, silver webs between the columns, which now shimmered like gossamer lace.
The scent of enchanted smoke and black roses filled the air.
And at the far end of the room stood Slappy.
He waited beneath a twisted arch of bone and vine, a pair of glowing jack-o'-lanterns flanking the base like guardians.
His crown glimmered under the firelight — the ancient silver composed of lifelong age— signifying his authority as the ruler of HorrorLand.
His black ceremonial cloak pooled behind him, lined with green and silver. And despite the formality of it all, his smirk betrayed the flicker of nerves beneath.
When he was human all those years ago, he scoffed at the idea of marriage and looked down upon it.
He never thought he would be the one waiting at the altar.
But tonight, something ancient inside him had settled.
And then—
The banshee choir began to hum.
A low, melodic wail that reverberated through the castle walls, setting the room vibrating like a heartbeat.
The air grew cooler.
The double doors creaked open.
All eyes turned.
And there she was.
Belinda.
Every inch a queen.
Her gown moved like moonlight on water — ivory silk clinging to her figure before tumbling into a full, misty skirt embroidered in blood-red thread.
The corset hugged her waist tightly, and her long, light brown hair had been curled into waves and pinned back with a crown of black roses.
Her eyes — wide, blue, alive — met his from across the hall.
Gasps echoed through the crowd. Even a goblin fainted.
Slappy couldn't move. Could barely breathe.
She walked slowly toward him, her satin slippers silent against the stone.
Every step she took was like a promise.
She wasn't just walking into a marriage — she was walking back into power, into herself.
No longer a broken doll. No longer hiding under a cloak. But whole. Woman. Wife. Survivor.
And she was choosing him.
When she reached him, she placed her hand in his without hesitation.
Slappy leaned close. "Try not to trip, princess."
Belinda raised an eyebrow. "Push me, and I take you down with me."
He grinned.
~~~
The officiant was a skeletal figure cloaked in ancient, moth-eaten robes. His voice echoed with dry thunder as he raised a ceremonial dagger carved from obsidian.
"Before the creatures of this realm, under the spell of moon and flame, we gather to bind these two—former enemies of fate, cursed, crowned, and changed—to each other in dark devotion."
The room fell into reverent silence.
Slappy turned to Belinda, his hands slightly trembling as he held hers. Then he spoke — not loudly, not for the crowd — but directly to her.
"Once, I thought power meant fear. That ruling alone was safer than letting anyone in. But then... you came along. You defied me. Mocked me. Challenged everything I thought I knew about control."
His voice lowered.
"And you made me feel human... before I ever became one again."
Belinda smiled, her eyes filled with love.
He continued, gentler now.
"I vow to protect you. To respect your fire. And to never, ever let you forget how magnificent you are. Doll or girl. Human or not. You were always stronger than me."
He paused.
"And if any slimy beast tries to eat you again, I'll incinerate them. Just saying."
The crowd chuckled darkly.
Now it was her turn.
Belinda inhaled, steadying her voice.
"I was supposed to be the golden girl. The girl at the top of her class who shut her heart out to any boy who came across. I had a life that never really fit me. I never knew who I was until I lost everything — my body, my voice, my world. And I met you."
Her voice shook.
"I hated you at first. You were infuriating. Smug. Rude."
Slappy smirked and rolled his eyes playfully.
"But under all that... there was someone who saw me. Who listened. Who didn't just want to save me — but trusted me to save myself."
She reached up and rested her palm against his cheek.
"You gave up everything for me. And now I give you this — all of me. Whatever we become next, we do it together."
A hush fell over the room.
The officiant raised the ceremonial dagger and brought it down gently between their palms, drawing a single drop of blood from each.
The drops floated in the air and twisted together — a glowing emerald light as they fused and vanished.
"The bond is sealed," the officiant intoned.
Slappy and Belinda locked eyes.
"May darkness never divide you. May light never break you."
"Now," the officiant added grimly, "you may kiss the bride."
Slappy didn't hesitate.
He took her face in both hands and kissed her — fiercely, fully, like it had been written in blood and fire long before either of them were born.
The crowd howled and roared — the monsters erupted in applause, a banshee screeched in delight, and even the chandeliers flared brighter.
When they finally pulled apart, breathless, Slappy whispered against her lips:
"Mine."
Belinda grinned. "Yours."
~~~
That night, as the scarimony spilled into a grand celebration across the castle — with shadow waltzes, spiced blood punch, and enchanted violin music that made goblins cry — Slappy and Belinda stood hand-in-hand on the castle balcony.
Stars glittered above HorrorLand.
Below, their kingdom pulsed with new life.
He looked at her — in her crown, her ring, her power — and for the first time in centuries, he felt whole.
"You've truly made me human again," he said softly.
"No," she replied, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. "You made yourself human... by choosing to love."
