The roar of thunder woke both Ashton and I up, making us jump. How ironic.

I wanted to scream at the interruption from my sleep. At least it provided me with an escape from the hell I was experiencing right now. As soon there was a bit of consciousness, Luke became my first thoughts, invading every free moment of my time.

A doctor came out of the surgery room, looking completely worn out. That would make all of us.

"We just finished the operation. It went fairly successful. He should wake up within a couple days. It's really up to him though. His body has to choose to fight."

A mixture of worry and relief washed over me. At least he has a chance. Funny. I never was a person to believe in hope. But right now, it was all I had.

Ashton said thank you to the doctor, because I wasn't able to speak.

"Wait!" I cried out, my voice sounding like nails on a chalk board from not talking for so long. The doctor stopped in his tracks and turned around, only the side of his face visible.

"Can I see him?"

He turned around to look at me sadly. "I'm afraid you can't right now-"

"Please," I begged, "I just need to see his face."

The doctor hesitated, pursing his lips into a fine line before walking back over to us. "Five minutes," he said, "and you can't touch him. At all. Keep at least a three foot distance away. I'll be back to tell you when time is up. He really needs rest," he explained, and I told him I completely understood.

I got up, nearly tripping over my feet in eagerness. The doctor lead me into the dark room, where Luke's body was laying on the bed.

"Oh God," I whispered, putting a shaky hand in my hair.

"Five minutes," I saw him mouth wordlessly and I nodded, hearing him close the door behind me.

I could see the slight movement of Luke's chest and I ached to touch him. I kept my hands at my side, my fingernails digging into my palms.

"Hey Luke," I began, trying to smile, but failing miserably. The lump in my throat was getting painful as I made an attempt to breath. "The doctors said they removed the... bullet and said that you'll be okay. You just have to fight, alright?"

My voice cracked and I stopped, trying to go ahold of myself by clearing my throat.

"I swear to God if you aren't okay, I'll find Jocelyn and I'll kill her. I don't care if she's sick, or my mother. I don't care if she was the most important person on this Earth. I'd find them and hunt them down until they'd pay," I spat to the ground, clenching my jaw down harshly.

The doctor came back in by then, and I knew my time was up. I gazed back at his beautiful face and bit my lip. "Fight for me, Luke. I love you so much. Please be okay," I barely whispered before rushing out of the room, fighting tears.

Great news! It's not ending as fast as I thought it would. I'm adding a couple chapters :) MORE DRAMA YAYYYY.
