"You're pathetic, you know that right?" Luke
sneered.

"But, I thought-"

"You thought what? That I loved you? That I was actually attracted to you?"

Tears that I had been holding back streamed down my face, blurring my eyesight. His voice was filled with venom.

"You're a little girl! My daughter, basically. That's disgusting. Who do you think I am?" He continued to spat vile words at me. Then, he did something that was even worse than that. He turned around and started walking away.

"Luke?" I whimpered, but he didn't stop. He just kept walking away, hands shoved deep in his pockets.

"Luke!" I cried out. He didn't even acknowledge my presence.

"I thought you said you loved me," I sobbed.

I shot up in my bed, perspiration making my hair glued to my forehead. I felt myself start crying all over again, sobs wrecking my body. Flinging the thick blanket off of my trembling body, I ran out of my room and into Luke's. He was sleeping on his stomach, head turned toward the door.

I took a couple steps closer to his bed, suddenly embarrassed, not wanting to disturb his peaceful state. But I knew I couldn't go back to sleep without those words echoing in my ear, or the visions of him walking away replaying in my head.

"Luke," I whispered, and lightly nudged his bare back.

His eyes slowly fluttered open. "Angel?"

I cried harder. "C-can I get... I mean, lay..."

He scooted over immediately, giving me space next to him. "God, Cami, what's wrong?"

I climbed into his arms and he gave me a tight squeeze. I clung onto him for dear life, afraid he was going to disappear.

"Please don't leave me," I told him pitifully, not being able to get enough of his contact. I felt his lips graze my forehead and his hands in my hair. "Calm down, I'm not going anywhere," he hushed, his calming voice traveled through my body like an electric shock.

I took bigger breaths, struggling to breath correctly. "Promise?"

"I promise."

We sat there in each other's arms for what seemed like hours. His soothing voice broke through the deafening silence.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

I rubbed my eyes and ran a couple fingers through my hair. "Not really. I just...I don't want to ever lose you. I can't lose you, Luke. I know I acted like I hated you the first time I met you, but I'm so thankful that you're in my life."

I studied his face, which seemed to be a mixture of concern and hurt. His eyes flickered down to my lips and then he clenched his jaw; I had to refrain myself from touching his face.

"I know, Angel, I know. Just go to sleep okay? Things will be okay tomorrow," he said quietly, almost to himself.

I reluctantly agreed, because I knew that Luke had a meeting early tomorrow morning and I had just caused a disruption in his sleep.

I laid my head down on the soft pillow, turning my entire body away from his. I felt his hand wrap securely around my waist, pulling me all the way to his chest.

Sighing in content, I easily let the darkness consume me.
