It was getting even more dangerous, harder still, with Jun-hee both pregnant and limping from a sprained leg, and you, still nursing your wound.
The speakers crackled again announcing more players passing. "He passed," Jun-hee said suddenly.
Hyun-ju turned to glance around the corner, checking for more taggers.
"Who?" You asked, confused.
"My friend," Jun-hee replied, breathing harder now. Her hair clung to her sweat-drenched face.
Geum-ja tightened her grip on Jun-hee's arm. "The one you switched teams with?"
Jun-hee nodded. "Yes, he said he'd come help me if he passed."
Hyun-ju opened another door ahead, glancing back. "Don't count on it. Its going to be hard to find us Here." You followed as they slipped through the door.
"He said he'd come help me." Jun-hee insisted, her voice trembling. You scoffed despite yourself. How can someone trust anyone around here?
Jun-hee was struggling more with each step, you suggested finding somewhere safe to rest and check her leg, when you came across a room that looked stable enough to hide in for awhile. You motioned for them to enter. They helped Jun-hee sit down on the floor. Hyun-ju gently removed her shoe.
Miss Geum-ja gasped. You turned your head and saw why, Jun-hee's leg was an alarmed shade of purple, badly swollen.
"Is it sprained?" Geum-ja asked, worried.
"No," hyun-ju muttered, grimly. "Her ankle might be fractured,"
Geum-ja turned to jun-hee, her eyed filled with worry. "What should we do?"
"She shouldn't walk on it," hyun-ju replied. "Let's hide here for now and see how things go."
Jun-hee shook her head. "You shouldn't do that for me. I'll hide here alone, you find the exit."
Geum-ja placed a steady hand on jun-hee's knee. I'll stay here with her, you and Y/N should go."
"What?" You and Hyun-ju said in unison.
Geum-ja offered a weak smile. "We've already been enough burden for you two. Let us handle this part.
Hyun-ju scanned the room, then noticed the timer blinking on the wall. Just fifteen minutes left. He exhaled softly. If they could just hold on a little longer...
But before he could say something, Jun-hee suddenly gasped, her breath picked up, sharp and shallow.
You noticed water on the floor, you quickly moved to her side, ignoring your wound. " she's having a contraction."
"W-what should we do?" Hyun-ju asked, voice shaky.
You and Hyun-ju both turned to Geum-ja, she was the only who seemed to know what to do. Without hesitation. She pulled off her jumper and gently rolling it up, placing it between junhee's teeth.
"She's giving birth." Geum-ja said, her voice calm but urgent.
Hyun-ju stood by the door, watching for any signs of movements outside, ready to defend the room if he had too. You knelt beside Jun-hee, holding her hand tightly as she gritted her teeth in pain.
"Just breathe," you said gently. "In and out. Your doing great." Geum-ja positioned at Jun-hee's leg. Sleeve rolled up, her face pale but focused. She had taken control without hesitation.
"She's crowning," geum-ja glanced up briefly. "Jun-hee you need to push. Now."
Jun-hee cried out, her body tensing as she bore down.
"Oh, dear...shh." Geum-ja murmured, her voice urgent yet gentle. "Your doing so well. Your doing so well, just one more push. You got this."
Jun-hee screamed through clenched teeth, her whole body shaking. The room was tense. but the countdown continued to tick closer to zero, hope and fear braided tightly together.
You wiped the sweat from Jun-hee's forehead, her skin burning hot. She clutched your hand like a lifeline, her knuckles turning white.
Your own wound throbbed sharply, each pulse a reminder of how close to the edge you all were. But you pushed the pain aside. She needed you more right now.
"Your almost there," you whispered your voice hoarse. "Just a little more."
Geum-ja leaned forward, focused and steady. "One more push, junhee. Just one more."
Moments later. The room filled with sounds of baby's cry. All of you exhaled at once, the tension breaking like a wave. Relief washed over you as the impossible moment became real.
Geum-ja gently lifted the newborn, her hand trembling slightly. A smile broke across her face, tired, but genuine.
"Its a little baby princess." She said softly.
Jun-hee's head tilted slightly as she looked at the child. Her eyes fluttering her lips were pale, and her breathing shallow, but her gaze locked onto the baby with a quiet wonder.
"Here, Y/N." Geum-ja gently handed you the baby with careful hands.
You cradled the newborn against your chest, feelings the tiny body squirm and wail softly, warm and alive.
Geum-ja quickly reached into her hair, pulling free the small knife she had cleverly hidden as a hair stick. Without hesitation, she leaned down cutting the cord connecting the baby to jun-hee.
The blade was swift, clean, and precise.
"Its done," she said, voice trembling slightly with emotion. You glanced down at the baby in your arms, a little miracle born in chaos and then to jun-hee, who watched with half-lidded eyes, barely consciousness but smiling softly.
Hyun-ju stepped away from the door, finally allowing himself to relax as the baby cries filled the room. He moved to your side glancing down at the baby in your arm. Then without a word, he gently placed an arm around your shoulder.
You felt the weight of it, steady, comforting. Hyun-ju gave you a small, sweet smile, one that said we made it, even of its just for now.
Ngl, I didn't feel good writing this chapter my headache is killing me. So I'm not proud of it, I'll try better with the next one😄
