"Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it."
Tris felt miserable. Yes, she just came out of an alternate reality or whatever, but that wasn't it. It was Tobias. She couldn't bear to look at his face once more during dinner. Later he tried to talk to her in her room... asked for a chance, she told him to give her time. He promised.
It was one week later, and he kept well to his promise he didn't try to come back at all. To try to make herself feel better, she decided to do some 'fun' things. Things that would remind herself that she was dauntless, and keep her mind off of her beloved Four.
"You ready?" Uriah announced, shouting at her as she dangled from a zipline.
Tris placed a smile on her face, trying to make it as genuine as possible, "Yes. I'm ready." He let go of the chord freeing her from his grasp, and she soared. The wind in her face and her hazel locks cascading behind her. It was the break of day, the sunlight just starting to shine upon her petite body. She was going fast, so fast she could watch the rays of light coming upon the faction city, and tumbling over hills and mountains far beyond. It was beautiful, and she wished to be no where else.
The line made her sail like a ship in history books that carried the cargo of weapons and soldiers. It made her glide like a plane that dropped bombs on cities breaking them into ruins, and killing millions of people. It made her shoot like a rocket would into the stars, discovering beautiful galaxies and wondrous planets.
She was taught that old things that the humans used to do tore them into pieces. The stars they used to looks up into the sky were useless marvels. There was nothing out there, and instead of trying to find something millions of years away, they could've been solving the Earth's problems such as pollution and sickness. The bombing planes and weapon ships were the outcome of the useless things they would do to gain themselves pleasure and wealth.
But at that moment she thought, "But what if none of that mattered anymore?"
