The night air was thick with salt and rain as the battered Titans approached the looming silhouette of Titans Tower.
Its glass walls shimmered against the storm clouds, the large T-shaped structure rising like a quiet guardian over the city's bay.
The doors at the base were already open — light spilling out onto the path like a warm, steady heartbeat.
And waiting just outside, where the wind howled over the water, stood the Justice League.
Batman's figure was unmistakable, a tall, immovable shadow against the Tower's glow.
Diana stood beside him, arms crossed over her chest, her face etched with worry and exhaustion. Flash paced restlessly while J'onn kept his calm vigil, eyes soft and sorrowful.
It wasn't often the League gathered like this, but tonight... after everything... they came.
Not as soldiers. Not even as legends.
As protectors.
As family.
Damian led them in.
His tunic was stained with dirt and blood, his arm steady around Marceline's waist.
She was barely upright, her eyes glassy, dark hair clinging to damp skin, shadows lingering around her frame like smoke refusing to lift.
She clung to him, one trembling hand fisted in the fabric over his heart.
The others trailed behind.
Garfield limped with an arm around Jaime, Kory shielding them both in a protective curve.
Dick's stride was slower, his gaze flicking constantly to Marceline's face as if any second she might vanish.
When they reached the League's line, no one spoke.
Even Wally — usually the first to crack a joke or throw an awkward quip — said nothing.
He just stepped forward and squeezed Gar's shoulder as the shapeshifter passed.
Bruce's voice was low.
"Status."
Dick gave a grim nod, voice rough from exhaustion.
"Artifact's gone. Ra's escaped. Everyone made it back. Just... barely."
His gaze flickered to Mars.
"Mental influence compromised. Marceline broke the connection herself."
A sharp exhale from Diana.
Clark's shoulders sagged, relief and lingering anger at odds on his face.
"We'll debrief later," Bruce murmured, stepping aside so the team could enter the Tower.
No lectures. No orders. Not tonight.
Diana was at Marceline's other side then, gentle fingers pressing between her shoulder blades.
Mars flinched — but didn't pull away.
They moved as one through the open doors, into the Tower's wide entrance hall.
Familiar light, the soft hum of security systems, the faint scent of saltwater and jasmine from the garden Kory insisted on keeping by the balcony.
It felt like home and not home all at once.
No one spoke.
Not as they passed the training room doors where the battle damage had been hastily cleaned.
Not as they crossed the main hall where empty food cartons and a long-forgotten game controller still sat on the couch.
The place was too quiet.
Like it was holding its breath.
Clark spoke from behind them.
"Go. Get patched up. Rest."
"We'll watch the perimeter tonight."
Damian gave a tight, grateful nod. Mars barely moved, still gripping his tunic.
