Author's POV-

Arjun's Hotel room, early morning...

T

he blazer fit differently today.

Arjun stood in front of the full-length mirror, the crisp navy blue of the India jacket snug around his shoulders. The emblem—the Chakra—glistened softly under the morning light pouring in through the hotel window.

He adjusted the collar once. Then again.

And stared.

Not at himself. Not really.

But at the reflection of the boy who once batted in gullies where the stumps were painted bricks, and the fielders were cousins and neighborhood friends bribed with kulfi.

He exhaled. Long. Shaky.
His fingers tapped against the sink. His throat was dry, and his chest felt too tight for breath.

This is it.
His debut. His dream. His country.

He should have felt like a lion. Instead, he felt... human.

His hand automatically reached for his phone.

He opened her chat.
Mira.

His fingers hovered over the keyboard.

"I'm scared too, Mira. But I'm trying."

The message blinked at him. But his thumb... didn't hit send.

Instead, he backspaced it.

Typed—

"Going to airport. Will keep you posted!"

Sent.

Coward.

The reply came barely a minute later.

"GOOD. Don't forget to tie your shoelaces properly. And eat something. And don't lose your passport. AND—try not to faint on camera due to anxiety, please. We're all rooting for you, star!"
