She took a deep breath, but a memory sucker-punched her---
Flashback (Mira is of 15 years)
Her brother- Kartik- sat next to her, wiping sweat off his face after a match.
He was beaming. "Mira, I hit a 74 today. They're gonna call me for the U-19 camp."
She didn't smile.
"You missed my debate finals again."
He looked down. "I know. But-this is what I've worked for. You get it, right?"
She wanted to say yes. Ohh she really did.
But it felt like cricket always took him away from her.
Like the game was this other sibling who demanded everything-attention, time, affection.
So she just said, "Congrats," and walked away.
