Although Claire was walking with her gaze straight ahead, she felt dissatisfied with what her parents had said; somewhere her mind was pointing out that they told her a half-baked truth, after noticing them before leaving the dining area.

As she approached the staircase, her attention was drawn to Granny, who was gracefully descending the steps, holding old flowers that she must have changed with the new one.

Seeing her prompted Claire to think about Jane, thus she paused right by the stairs, recalling that Granny had stopped Jane with her earlier, "Don't know what they might have talked about, maybe she'll have a better answer to what I couldn't get," Claire thought, feeling a sense of anticipation.

As Granny walked down the stairs, she saw Claire standing right there. which formed a knowing smile spread across her face. "You must be looking for Jane," she spoke up immediately, her voice warm and inviting, "She's probably in the kitchen."

"Thanks, Granny, but how did you know I was going to ask about her?" Claire asked, feeling amazed.

"Because I know you, dear," Granny replied, wearing her sweet smile.

"Oh, you sure do, Granny," Claire mentions feeling the warmth flooding her in heart, she returned her a smile before adding, "Okay, I'm off to Jane then."

On that note, she turned on her heels, but before she went ahead, Granny inquired, "Before going ahead and plan a stormy game with Jane, at least tell me, how did you like the churros?"

Recalling the delicious treats that had sparked a small disagreement between her and Eric, Claire responded with a conspiratorial wink, "They were definitely worth the fight, I had to have, with Eric, to eat them."

Listening to her, Granny chuckled up softly, her laughter ringing like a cheerful bell.

"Thanks for such a treat, Granny," Claire remarked.

"It's nothing, sweetie." Granny replied and went on her way, there Claire also stepped further into the warm embrace of the kitchen. Her heart danced with nostalgia, but a flicker of concern still gnawed in her thoughts.

"Has Eric noticed anything strange, too?"

The idea flared briefly in her mind, only to be faded out by the reality that he's too immersed in his own world-especially with his new girlfriend-to see the oddities unfolding around them.

With a shake of her head, she cleared her mind and moved ahead to seek Jane to continue her search for answers.

Searching for Jane, Claire walked into the spacious kitchen, which had a sight to behold. The deep blue hue cabinets exuded elegance, while the gold accents gave a touch of grandeur to the room. The lighting fixtures were perfectly placed, illuminating every corner of the kitchen. The white marble countertop, herringbone wood flooring, and French windows added a blend of contemporary and classic style to the overall look.

As Claire walked in, she saw Sofie and many other people who must have come for the evening's preparations; they looked busy baking treats.

Noticing Claire, Sofie greeted her with a warm smile and asked, "You want something, sweetie."

Claire shook her head, politely declining, and inquired, "Where is Jane," Sofie pointed towards the lawn, where Jane was assisting Jeff, the event organizer, with something that was not immediately apparent from the kitchen.

She smiled and muttered, "Okay," and headed towards the elegantly crafted French wooden door, which opened to reveal an expansive, lush lawn stretching in front.
