Alusar turned out to be a pretty nice guy. He talked a lot but that seemed to be on point with what Thisbe really needed in this friend group so nobody could actually complain. Besides they very clearly shared interests which only added to their bonding.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Everyone was sitting in the living room, Alusar and Thisbe were talking very eagerly about the latest murder case. Apparently after the girl from the hotel room, they found two more in different parts of town that died in exactly the same ways. Throat slit for long, painful bleeding out, teeth marks around the wound and nothing that would point to a murderer or a murder weapon.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Mena curled up in the corner of the couch uncomfortable which quickly caught Elaris' attention. It seemed to bother her more than anyone else. And he had a slight suspicion that he made it only worse that night when he saved her life.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Did he do the right thing? Of course. But god, why was she of all people the girl Hiei kept on telling him about? He was interested enough, paying way too much attention to her wellbeing. Which was showing even in that moment.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ He passed over a peeled orange to her with a little smile. She frowned confused, accepting the gift and sank her teeth into a sweet and sour fruit, looking away from him. She looked rather adorable. Curled up, confused and so out of it. She just gave off the energy of someone you wanted to protect.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Or at least that's how he was describing it to himself. Making sure it's nothing interesting. Just simple facts anyone would back him up on.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Do we really have to talk about murders?" Mena muttered finally, sighing as Thisbe and Alusar looked at her, very much committed to continuing their topics.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ She stood up with her orange and marched upstairs into the library, curling up on the small bench under the window. Sun was surrounding her in a soft, warm halo, giving her an almost angelic look. Elaris stopped in the door, taking a look at her carefully. She seemed more at peace there. Alone.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ But something pushed him to disturb that peace.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "You're not a big fan of true crime?" He asked, taking a seat in the only shadowy corner of the room.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ She looked up, a little surprised, clearly not expecting him to follow her. She didn't even notice him. Was he that quiet? Or was she that lost in her thoughts?

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Not when the crimes are current and very much putting me at risk." She muttered, leaning her head on the glass, her eyes looking out onto the still very cold lake.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Alusar is very passionate about it. He's not a cop but I'm pretty much expecting him to investigate it on his own."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Well, now he has Thisbe. A real cop." Mena rolled her eyes, looking down at the orange in her hands, turning her fingers sticky from the sweet juice. Not very thoughtful of her to just not grab a tissue.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "They do seem to work well together..."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Are you jealous?" Mena chuckled, turning her gaze to him for a moment. "Thisbe is not trying to steal your friend.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I'm not jealous. If anything, I'm glad this idiot found someone who gets him." He leaned back in the comfortable chair, all his lines getting slightly blurry in the shadows. "Although I do wish they would keep that talk for other occasions. I'm not sure anyone else is really willing to hear all that crap..."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Mena smiled softly at his words, biting down into the orange again. She was still a little confused as to why he offered her an orange but she was not going to complain. It was kind of sweet.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ And she was kind of dumb for not accounting how sticky it will make her hands.
