Sitting with Alusar and Oralise was definitely not helping his struggles. Elaris sank into the comfortable chair and sighed obnoxiously at them kissing yet again in front of his poor eyes. He was not bothered about their happiness. If anything, he was sickly overjoyed that an idiot like Alusar found himself someone so bright and great like Oralise after the whole Elvy stuff happened years back. He was simply sick of the kissing noises molesting his eardrums.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Alusar wasn't even trying to contain his laughter hearing his best friend sigh profusely. It became a rather common occurrence. Masai being tortured by Alusars free expression of love was an everyday thing even before he changed him. One of them kept away from people and feelings, the other shared his bed and heart like there was no tomorrow. Masai was there to pick up the shattered pieces and Alusar was there to bother his best friend with yet another love adventure.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Awh, what's that? Jealous?" He chuckled, leaning back on the couch and looking over at Elaris.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "As if." Elaris only rolls his eyes, giving Oralise a little wave as she grabs her stuff and heads out. "Why would I be jealous of this?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I know how you've been looking at Mena." Alusar only shrugs, grabbing a cigarette from his pocket. "It's something new from you, actually. Not even Mirabel was this... Special. Now you just can't look away... It's adorable to see you like that, really."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Oh shut it."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ He sank deeper into the fabric of the chair, his fingers pressing the bridge of his nose. He was not a fan of Mirabel being brought up in this way. He never loved her. Sure, he thought of her kindly. Back then at least. She was a great friend, a great help. And then she ruined everything. But her and Mena were in no way similar.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Bringing them up in the same sentence was a great offence to Mena's honor.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "What, like I'm wrong?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Mena is special, I'm not saying she's not. I like her. I adore her. Hell, I don't think there's anything I wouldn't do for her... But for fucks sake, mention Mirabel next to her again and you might lose your head."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Alusar only smirked at that. Well, at last he was right about something. The longer he was alive, the further he was drifting away from Elaris but at least he didn't lose his vision completely. After all, he still cared deeply about his younger friend. If he didn't, Elaris probably would've been spared from a forever life.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "So if she's so special, are you going to tell her our little secret?" He leans back in his seat, looking at him carefully. As if trying to make sure no lie will slip past him.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "She already knows." Elaris looked away, his leg tapping nervously. "Not by choice really."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ The expression on Alusar's face turned harsh and cold. They had one rule. One secret. They agreed to keep it hidden. Forever. Oralise didn't know. None of their human friends knew. That was the rule. That was the promise.
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ A promise Elaris demanded from Alusar after Mirabel.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "She knows?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I didn't want her to know."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Then how does she know?" Alusar stood up, no longer able to stay in place. "Masai, what did you do?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ What did he do? Way too much and way too little at the same time. He should've been more careful. It was his fault. In every way, from every angle.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "It doesn't matter, ok? It won't happen again. She took it... pretty well. She's fine with it..."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Fine with it? That's not the fucking issue, Masai. What, next thing you're going to tell me is that you feed off of her?" He looks at him clearly pissed, waiting for a response. But not getting it, was just like confirmation. "You're fucked up, Masai. Delusional. You made up an issue and now you're risking her life for it?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "Made up an issue?"

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "That whole 'need' for human blood. It's bullshit. You're sick for it. You know, I was here for you when you did it with Mirabel and I know where it landed you. You're going to suck that poor girl dry..." He picks up his phone from the table, looking down on Elaris with a hint of disappointment and disgust. "You're fucking sick."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I'm not going to hurt her."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ "I'm pretty sure you already did."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Silence was all that was left in the room when Alusar left the place shutting the doors with a loud thud. Silence and guilt. He was already feeling bad about the whole thing. Last thing he wanted was for Mena to be in pain. To suffer something just for him. Was he really just a sick, selfish monster?
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Now that those words came from Alusar it felt like an official stamp pressed to his sentence. Nothing ever broke him the way those words did.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ He was sick. Delusional.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ He was a monster.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ And he believed it.
