"A full frontal assault will put Master Zenyatta in danger," Genji insisted as Ramattra gripped the desk the monitor was stationed on with an iron grip. He would've been bending the metal if he hadn't built it so hardy.
"Then what do you suggest, human?" He spat the word like it was an utter disgrace to be one, let alone be human and telling him how to save his own brother.
Genji clasped his hands in a salute with two fingers up, confidence radiating off of him despite Ramattra's disbelief. "We retrieve him stealthily – like ninjas." The scoff that left Ramattra echoed around the control room. "They will be unable to stop us if they do not know we are there."
"They will also be unable to stop us if we destroy them all." The metal under his hands creaked as he leaned closer to the screen. "If they see fit to use my brother to chain me to servitude like a dog, they will suffer the full wrath of my forces."
Genji's hands fell back to his sides, where one rested on his hip. "Talon would hold Master Zenyatta hostage before we reach him."
"As if he is not already their hostage," Ramattra sneered, standing to his full height as he glanced around the otherwise empty control room. Laylani had left back to her quarters some time ago after confirming the omnics that were once subjugated had recovered perfectly, and he spotted a monitor tuned into a news station that was talking about the recent King's Row raid. The anchor's face portrayed confusion as she recounted the events, ending the segment before they cut to commercial with a bright smile and a hopeful note: that maybe Null Sector was turning over a new leaf. Ramattra doubted he'd ever be in the good graces of humans – not that he cared – but it struck him as odd to consider he'd always been in (Y/n)'s good graces, even back in the cave where he threatened to kill her time and time again.
The thought of his favorite human was a fresh one, as she hadn't been on his mind since Genji interrupted his peace, and it occurred to him then that he'd been talking with the Overwatch agent for hours and their bickering over strategy had gotten them nowhere. A sigh left his voicebox as he turned back to the cyborg, who was watching him curiously. "We will talk about this later. I have business to attend to." The reminder of (Y/n) made him finally take notice of the late hour – he needed to go check in with her after her trip to see her parents.
"I will study the blueprints Baptiste sent you." Genji dipped his head in a bow as Ramattra begrudgingly did the same. Even though he could hear both (Y/n) and Laylani reminding him to work with Overwatch in his head, it was as comfortable as ripping out his own voicebox. "Sayōnara!"
Ramattra ended the video call as his shoulders sagged, gaze snapping to the blueprints Baptiste was able to get him of the Talon base in Rome. It was a good start, though whether it was accurate or not, he couldn't say – he didn't care if Baptiste wished for Zenyatta's safe return, he was still once a member of Talon and a human, and humans love to lie. And that was perhaps his biggest hangup about partnering with Overwatch: he didn't trust them. Like (Y/n) said, they were the 'good guys', but if they were truly as good as that title suggested, they would be liberating his people just as he was. But he'd learned a long time ago that relying on others to do the hard work for him was only wishful thinking, so on the off chance he let Genji help him save Zenyatta, he would be a mere addition to, not a cornerstone, of the plan.
Ramattra rotated his joints in their sockets to make sure they didn't lock up on him, eye lights drifting skyward to admire the stars. The view was always beautiful in his ships, and once more, his mind returned to (Y/n) and the night he first let her aboard his Null Sector fleet. The stars were just as beautiful then, though perhaps it was the company that made it so memorable.
He felt his body relax in a way that only happened around his favorite human, though that had become a much more frequent occurrence than even he wanted to admit. His thoughts were plagued with her, and while before, that irritated him to no end. Now? It brought him peace. Her decision to join him up in the air was a wise one – not just because he was granted more time in her presence and a chance to figure out where his fascination with a human stemmed from – and he'd be lying if he said he was disappointed when she turned him down initially.
