The pair made it to the control room of the ship, and Ramattra tapped some buttons at the main console as (Y/n) stared out at the endless expanse of black. Night had fallen some time ago, and at the reminder, she bit back a yawn. It was peaceful here – no warbots or hostile omnics – and the stars were twinkling up in the sky as a small reminder that no matter how different her life would be now, some good things remained the same.
Ramattra set the course for the ship and it switched direction to head towards the north star. Then he turned to the girl, resting his staff back against the console and folding his arms. "I will assign a C-455 Sharpshooter to watch over you when I am not around."
After a moment of thought, she mumbled, "I ain't never heard of one of thems before."
"Because it is a uniquely Null Sector warbot designed after a member of Overwatch."
She let out a soft laugh. "I'd ask which one but I reckon I ain't all that familiar with them Overwatch agents."
That seemed to pique his attention, and he cocked his head as if studying her. "They returned you to your home after you awoke in the hospital, did they not? Surely you must know something." She only scuffed her shoe on the floor. "You know nothing of the world you are entering, it seems." It would've sounded like a jab if there wasn't trace amounts of humor in his voicebox, and she flushed, rolling her suitcase around on the floor idly.
"Should I know them?"
"It would certainly make things easier." He glanced down at the automated system behind him before walking over to stand in front of her. "You know of our group, Null Sector, and you now know of Talon – a criminal organization profiting from chaos they caused. They attempted to get their hands on you and the knowledge you have obtained, which means they are after you and will go to great lengths to see their plans through." She shifted uneasily at that, but he moved on before it could truly set in. "Overwatch will likely find out soon – if they have not already – and seek you out in efforts to protect you."
"So they're the good guys?" she guessed.
"Humanity's finest," he replied, the sarcasm thick enough to see. She cracked a small grin, sure they were better than he'd ever give them credit for – they did willingly bring her home, after all.
But thinking of them reminded her of Zenyatta, and she frowned, tapping her nails against her suitcase handle anxiously. "What happened to Zenyatta?"
Ramattra didn't reply right away, and she had time to picture the worst case scenario before he finally huffed. "Talon captured him and are attempting to use him as leverage against me to keep me in line." He chuckled darkly. "I spoke with their leader some time ago on the grounds of commonality, but the human was just as shallow and slimy as I suspected. They have had problems arising within the organization since, such as their leader being arrested, but now that Doomfist has returned, they intend to right apparent wrongs – one of which was my turning down an alliance."
"So they want some good ol' fashioned revenge and they kidnapped Zeny to do it." The thought was horrible, stirring up sympathy in her heart that she pointed the poor Ravager's way, but he paid it no mind.
"My brother is nothing more than insurance to them, designed to push me in whatever direction they so choose so as to ensure his safety." His fingers dug into his crossed arms, his tone dropping to a chill that made the whole room cool with it. "They will come to find out the misstep they have made when I learn of their location and burn it to ash."
"Is Zeny going to be okay?" (Y/n) rocked on her feet, antsy energy desperate to be expelled, and Ramattra leveled his gaze on her.
"Fret not. He may be a means to an end, but they need him alive in order to keep me in line." He tch'd. "How they seek to control me only cements my plans for them." The thought made her shiver, knowing just what it felt like to be on the receiving end of his wrath and almost pitying them.
