Ramattra walked towards the humans slowly, his warbot troopers backing their leader with attentive yellow lights, and (Y/n) yearned to meet him halfway before suddenly, Papa was beside her and Mama pulled her back into her arms and out of harm's way.

"Wait, Pops, he ain't a threat!" (Y/n) reached out to Papa, making his mallet fall a couple inches as he glanced back at his daughter.

Ramattra rumbled, "I would not be so certain." (Y/n)'s eyes widened and the canine yipped, trotting over to sit at the Ravager's feet. He reached down to pet it, much to its apparent joy, but his gaze never left the humans. His red eye lights were even more obvious in the dark, and she felt Mama's arms tighten around her.

"Who are you?" Papa demanded, his hands tight around the mallet as he stood in front of his family protectively.

Ramattra stopped an arm's length from Papa, not backing down from the burly man's imposing presence. "The leader of Null Sector and the reason your daughter has lived as long as she has." His optics zeroed in on (Y/n). "That was Talon. I told you there would be consequences if you stayed."

Her breath caught. "Are they gonna keep coming after me?"

"They will hunt you down to the ends of the earth, human." She felt the weight of the words on her chest making it hard to breathe, and she shrunk back into Mama as the older woman rubbed her daughter's back.

"What makes you so sure?" Papa asked, concern mixing with distrust as he glanced back at (Y/n) warily.

"Do you not have eyes?" Ramattra growled. "Were I not here, your daughter would be tortured for information and you two would cease to exist." Mama gasped as Papa glared at him, and (Y/n) pulled out of her mom's grasp to stand in between Ramattra and her parents.

"Okay, we're all a lil high strung right now, so let's have some of Mama's sweet iced tea to simmer down, yeah?" Papa sighed, dropping the mallet to the ground as Mama took his hand, nodding at (Y/n)'s idea. (Y/n) turned to Ramattra, sending him a pleading look. "Please?"

He scoffed. "I do not drink 'sweet iced tea', human."

A couple minutes later, Ramattra was sat at the dinner table across from Papa with (Y/n) at his right, across from which was Mama. Despite his earlier claim, there was still a glass perched on the table in front of him, and he glared at it as the silence hung in the air with almost suffocating awkwardness. The ice clinked in the glass, rising to the surface as condensation collected on the outside, and the girl was almost convinced the heat from his glare was melting the cubes. Mama busied herself sipping her tea and refilling it from the pitcher, and Papa seemed to be chewing on his words, his hands formed into fists in his lap. (Y/n) distinctly recalled Ramattra mentioning he didn't sit down for tea with her kind, and it showed – he looked torn between being pissed at following along with what a human wanted and awkward due to his inexperience with this domestic situation.

(Y/n) was frantically searching for a way to break the silence when Papa finally uttered, "How in the Sam Hill did you meet a R-7000, sugar lump?"

Ramattra shot (Y/n) a look as her face turned red and she pleaded, "Please stop calling me that." She swore she heard Ramattra chuckle under his breath. "The omnic I met up in them mountains that saved my life, and the one that protected me on my trip into town and gave me the B4RK unit, that's him." She gestured to the Ravager with an awkward smile. "We met at the monastery, and he...um..."

"I aided your daughter's safe return home," Ramattra supplied smoothly, and she shot him a grateful look. "And as my life debt to you has already been paid in full, you now owe me." He directed that at the girl beside him, and she nodded glumly as Mama's eyes widened.
