"...and that should do it!" (Your/name) leaned back, wiping the sweat from her brow as she flipped the wrench in her hand. "Okay, try it now." The robot in front of the young woman rotated his wrist joint, letting out a satisfied hum when he felt no resistance.

"Well done, (Y/n)," he said, looking up at her with what would've been a smile if he was able to morph his robotic mask. Zenyatta was a humanoid omnic monk wearing only pants with a string of balls floating around his neck like a necklace without a string, and he was wise beyond his years. Omnics were robots that had been granted sentience nearly 3 decades ago, back before (Y/n) was born, and Zenyatta had since gone on the path of enlightenment, copying the omnics' 'mother' Aurora – the one that granted them sentience, deemed the 'Awakening' for all omnics. (Y/n) found the whole idea fascinating. AI gaining sentience was talked about long before she was born, but the result of it coming to fruition was even more remarkable than predicted.

"It was nothing," (Y/n) replied modestly, shoving her wrench back into her toolbag as she knelt over it

"It was nothing," (Y/n) replied modestly, shoving her wrench back into her toolbag as she knelt over it. "Is there anything else I can help you with before I go?" Her (eye/color) eyes flickered up to the monastery around her, the soft yellow glow cast on the stone making her feel at home despite being in a completely different country. She was in the Shambali Monastery, located in the Himalayas of Nepal, where the omnic monks had taken refuge in the location Aurora gave her life to grant them sentience, and as well as having sentimental value to them, there was something almost ethereal in the air she couldn't explain. She was the only human among leagues of omnics, surrounded by those with completely different experiences than her, but not once did they make her feel ostracized by the gap between species, and for that, she was extremely grateful.

Zenyatta clasped his hands and threaded his metal fingers as his kind voice resonated in the large, empty space. "You have done more than enough."

"Hardly." (Y/n)'s lips formed a tight smile as her gaze swept across the other omnics in the room, meditating on the floor surrounded by their fellow monk brothers. "I was the one intruding on your space these past couple weeks, and it's the least I could do after all you've taught me." It was a long and frankly perilous journey up into the Himalayas just to get to the monastery but it had been well worth it. She'd come seeking answers about omnic anatomy, how they worked, functioned, existed and lived, and Zenyatta had welcomed her with open arms, teaching her more than she'd ever learned back in her hometown.

"It was a pleasure to have you." Zenyatta's tranquility made her feel warm inside – something she couldn't explain yet felt anyway. It was like it magically filled her with harmony somehow, granting her peace with a simple touch of his hand on her shoulder. "It was a lovely surprise to find you on our doorstep, sister."

(Y/n) smiled awkwardly, ashamed to admit the term was nowhere near accurate. "I'm hardly a sister, Zenyatta." The monks called each other 'brother' due to their closeness, but as neither a monk nor an omnic, she was about as far from being a 'sister' as she could be.
