Ashton's POV

The next day I could hear yelling from next door but I ignore it by playing more video games.

"Ash, did you do your chores yet?" my mom asks walking into my room.

"Nope." my mom then walks over to the tv and rips out all the plugs and unplugs all the gaming systems. "What?"

"You'll get them back once you do your chores and get your grades up."

"God damn it! That's what I get for dating a fuck boy!" I hear next door.

I look out my window and see that girl next door. What was her name again? Oh yeah, Carmen. She was bawling her eyes out.

So, I decide to pull out a notebook and marker and write hey on it. She then replies the same.

"Rough day?"

"Dumped by my boyfriend."

"That sucks."

"We were together for six months."

"Sucks more than a whore."

"You don't know the half of it."

"I'm willing to listen."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, just to make someone's day."

"Meet me downstairs at my house."

I then walk out of my room and see my whole family look at me like I just committed a crime.

"Where are you going?" my mom asks.

"To help the neighbor." I say before heading out the door and heading to the house on the left side of mine.

Once I walk out to the driveway, she's standing there looking down like she's a drug addict trying to sober up.

"Carmen?" I ask.

"Yeah, Ashton?" she asks.

"Yeah, so, what happened?"

"Well, Alex and I were together for six months until last night. He's only been with girls for sex and thinking maybe he changed, I took the chance and went out with him. Things happened last night and he left a note saying he was leaving me." Carmen explains.

"You look like you've been drinking heavily." I say.

"That's what I have been doing. I just have to make sure I sober up before my mom gets home." I could see tears filling up at her green irises.

"It's okay to cry."

"No, that bastard doesn't deserve my tears." she says before bursting into tears. I don't know what to do because I've never actually talked to her before and this is like our first time actually talking and meeting.

"Head inside, I'll be right back." I say before grabbing my car keys.

Carmen's POV

I did as Ashton said and I went back into the house. I sobbed my eyes out and binged on an episode of American Horror Story or two. Once Ashton came back over, he had a bag with ice cream in hand.

"I hope you like cookie dough and brownie ice cream." he says handing me the Ben And Jerry's ice cream container and a spoon.

"I do." I say before tearing open the tub. "We've never spoke to each other, why are you being so nice to me now?"

"I had nothing else when I had my video games taken away and you sounded like you were in distress."

"Thank you."

The bingeing on the ice cream and just getting things off my mind, makes me stop crying but leaves me in sniffles. Ashton just sat in the chair right across from the couch I was sitting on. Not saying a word but just watching me eat the ice cream.

"Do you want some?" I ask.

"No thanks, I'm fine." he says.

We just sat in silence. I ate my ice cream while he just sat across the room from me.

"You can go home if you want." I say. "My cousin Calum is supposed to come over soon."

"Nah, it's fine."

The doorbell rings and Ashton gets up to see who it is for me.

"Who the hell are you?" I hear voice ask.

"The neighbor, you?" Ashton asks.

"Alex, I'm here to-"

"You're not welcomed here."

"The hell I am."

"Hey!" I yell. "Why the hell are you even here, Alex?"

"I came to do something but I guess I can't now since you've obviously got a new boyfriend here."

"Boyfriend? No, we just met."

"Whatever, I'll leave you two dipshits to fuck." Alex says before leaving.

I then run into my room and walk over to my mirror filled with pictures of us. I tear them off one by one and toss them on the ground. Even the ones on my wall. Once all the photos were torn off and I was able to see my reflection in the mirror, I realize I'm wearing his sweater. I rip it off before tossing it onto the floor. I then go over to a drawer I have filled with his sweet little notes to me and what nots. I rip the drawer out of memoirs and toss it onto the floor. Everything I have on the floor I put into the drawer.

"Do you know where I can have a bon fire and not be breaking a law?" I ask Ashton.

"Grab your stuff, let's go." he says.

"Go where? We just met. I don't know if you're a murderer or rapist or whatever criminal."

"I spend my free time playing video games. I don't think I'm a criminal."

"Alright, give me two minutes." I say before walking into my room. I grab a flannel to toss over the grey tank top I was already wearing, a pair of white shorts, and some vans. I put my hair in a messy bun before leaving with Ashton. He has a jeep wrangler. A pretty decent car. I mean, I wouldn't take it on the freeway.

We drive out towards the country where supposedly bon fires are legal. We arrive to what looks like an abandoned barn. Ashton hops out of the vehicle and walks over to the barn and opens it up. He grabs a bale of hay and sets it in the middle of the field. He then walks over to a well and starts pumping water out and waters down the surrounding areas.

"Bring the stuff you want to burn over here!" Ashton hollers. I hop out of the jeep and walk over to him. I hand him the removed drawer to him before he dumps everything on top of the bale of hay. He then hands me a match and striker. "You can do the honors."

I strike the match before tossing it on the bail of hay. It was relieving. Like finally finishing an essay after four hours of nonstop work. Or finally sleeping after being awake three days in a row. That's how relieving it was.

"Anything you want to say?" Ashton asks.

"If Alex even tries to communicate with me, he can suck my metaphorical dick." I spit.

"Just let the anger out."
