Third person’s pov

“I’ve added another dose,”

Choi Chang - Woo, a dropout from medical school reports. She stares at Suzy from behind her messy fringe. “That should keep them sleeping for a few more hours,” she tucks her hands into her jackets before clearing her throat. “I’ve done you a favour. Now, you should play yours,”

“Alright,” Suzy opens her bag before tossing a square - shaped packaging no bigger than a dollar bill. “That’s for today,” she concludes, zipping her bag again. Grinning to her ears, the junkie bends forward to grab it.  Bringing the item under her nose, she sniffs wholeheartedly. “Thank you,” her yellowish teeth are up for display. “Have I told you how much I like working with you?”

“You don’t have to,” Suzy clears her throat. “But I do have one more mission for you,”

“What is it?” the dropout asks. “Can’t tell you now,” Suzy confirms. She takes a step forward to glance at the sleeping girls on the floor before backing back three steps. “Keep your eyes on them always. I need to go now,”

Lisa steps into her mother’s chamber. Following her is a set of security. “Darling one,” the Queen rises to her feet once she spots her only child. “I was notified that you were coming,” she adds as Lisa leans forward to brush her lips on the Queen’s cheeks. “Yes, and thank you for accepting it,”

She breathes out, one hand travels into the pocket of her slack and contemplates speaking before noticing the security hasn’t left her side. “And what are you doing here?” she asks. “I’m sorry, Your Royal Highness. But as part of the newly amended security procedure, we are required to guard the whole time to avoid unwanted incident from happening,”

“For god’s sake, we are inside the chamber!” Lisa grunts. Then, her hand points incredulously outside the window where fortified walls are. “And there are tall, thick walls with police guarding it day in, day out. I can highly say we are beyond safe right now so please, fuck off,”

The head of security blinks his eyes. Then, he turns to face the Queen who nods her head subtly as to agree with the request. “We will be outside the door,” the man finally says. Retreating, Lisa clenches her jaws until every single one of them is gone.

“I hate them all,”

“Well, if we are to start on that note, I think I find myself hating almost everything,”

The Queen sits down, then gestures for Lisa to follow. The heir comfortably ploughs down on the couch opposite from the Queen. A small, rectangular coffee table rests between them with a single brewing hot tea in a green mug.

“So, what brings you here”

“My daughters,”

“Oh please, are we still talking about that? Lisa, they are dead”

“They are not and I’ve confirmed to you that I lied about their deaths”

“Oh, is that my fault now?”

“No, but I’m requesting for your assistance”

“What kind of assistance?”

“Someone has contacted me,” Lisa breathes out shakily. Cold sweat begins to cramp on her temple. “I am not sure I know this person but this dangerous slut has my daughters,” The Queen listens while stirring her tea lightly. “And what are you proposing I do?” the woman finally asks. “Help me,” Lisa simply says.

“I know we have a team ready. Just one word from you and they’d do it,”

“I am afraid I can’t give the word. They work for me, not for anyone else”

“But they are my daughters! Your grandchildren!”

“Whom I had been informed dead for so many years, before their mother came one day to tell me everything was crafted purely out of lie”

“Oh please!” Lisa yells. Putting her foot down, she locks eyes with her mother; whose in that very exact moment, starts to look like one of her nemesis. “I have never begged you for anything,” she halts in angrily. “And now when I need your help the most, you’re refusing it,”

“I am actually saving you,”

The Queen says. “Besides, what are you planning to tell the public about your lies? It’s already enough they are turning their filthy back against us all after my comment,”

“Well, I don’t care anymore,” Lisa sighs. “I expect you to care,” the Queen demands. “Because you’re the next in life after me and I can’t have someone with tainted record sitting on the throne, patronising after  my people,”

“Please, as if we need to revisit that particular department of your …”

“You’re not saint either, Lisa”

“I’ve never said I’m one”

“You are, indirectly yes”

“Look,”

Lisa licks her lower lip in pure agitation. “What can I do for you in return if you agree to help me out this time?”

The Queen stares at her only daughter. The next face in line for the throne. Something plays in her mind but before her mouth is able to say anything, a series of anxious knocks on the door catches them both off guard.

“Your Majesty, Your Royal Highness,”

A courtier from the Queen Mother’s household breaks the silence. “We’re afraid to say that Her Majesty the Queen Mother has peacefully died in her sleep just now. Formal announcement has not yet been made as we insist Your Majesty” he nods his head in the direction of his Queen, “And Her Royal Highness be alerted first,”

“Oh, god” the Queen holds the back of the couch for stability. “You may go,” Lisa takes the lead. “And put a hold on the announcement. We will visit the Queen Mother first, then we will discuss from there,”
