Third person's point of view

Flashback (1)

When she was born, a year after Jiwon, Miyeon never thought she'd one day be walking down the corridor of their palace crowned as the Queen. The spade was always taught even at school; that Jiwon would always come first in everything.

But being the second was a lot more hassle than to be the first; she had always hoped to walk into Jiwon's shoes every time the first born was too tired to stick with the protocols.

Always expected to be the perfect sibling in support of the future queen of South Korea because their father, the King, believed Jiwon needed someone from the family she could lean on once she became Queen.

She was sent abroad with her sister, educated at the world's most private institution in Switzerland - often dubbed the Royal's playground as it hosted too many royals from different houses all over the world. The idea was; Jiwon needed someone to help her and no one was a better candidate than Miyeon.

So, off they went, the royal princesses one day in May with thousands waving hands belonged to their loyal subjects. At school, Jiwon was Danielle and Miyeon was Ella.

Together, they were bright students of their year, along with their peers. But while Jiwon enjoyed every single bit of freedom in the school, Miyeon had her eyes set secretly on the throne.

So much so that every night when they knelt down together, holding hands where Danielle would lead the prayer, Miyeon couldn't help but to mutter under her breath in a shaky whispery tone that may the day of death for Jiwon would be near, so that she won't be standing in between of Miyeon and the throne.

Time passed by these two sisters like a whirlwind - that when it was actually gone; they realised they had already been adults.

Gone were the days of them as younger, innocent princesses laughing at life with no thoughts really troubling them. Now, coming face to face with adulthood, both princesses were finally parted for the first time in forever.

Miyeon had been summoned home to serve while continuing her study. Jiwon was ordered to stay until she graduated.

So, both sisters bid goodbye; not knowing while one felt the sadness of having to say goodbye, the other was boiling in hatred of the second life she had always feared.

They did not meet for 6 years but letters from Jiwon had always found their special way to Miyeon.

"I'm going to ask you one more time,"

Their father said in rage. It was in Seoul and soon after Jiwon's return. The next in line for the throne after the King was now pregnant.

Her partner was none other than a low rank subject the Royal Family had agreed not to meet. "Get rid of the child and break whatever that you have with him or I'll banish you from this family and Korea forever,"

"I can't do that," Jiwon answered in tears. She had been reduced to her knees. Her whole body trembled before the King. Her mother, the Queen, kept her mouth shut. Miyeon was next to her, eyes nervously shifting between her sister and their father.

Their secretly dying father. "I need the baby as much as I need my partner and you can't take that away from me," Jiwon answered bravely. Everyone looked away the very moment Jiwon was slapped.

The King wasn't happy to do it. But his emotion had the best of him. The only thing he had on his mind at that moment was; how could the daughter he had hoped to lead, had his heart broken the most?

Clenching his jaws at the same time he looked away, the King decreed for every royal title and privileges given to Jiwon to be taken away. "I did not wish to do this," he said, his voice as shaky as his hand. "But you did not give me any option,"

"Dad, please" Jiwon had tried to reason but the King ordered her to remain silent.

"From this day onwards, you shall be known by your first name only and not by the style let alone the rank that you had been given at birth,"

He took a step away from his daughter. Freeing himself from her attachment.

"Dad, please don't do this to me..."

The princess begged but her cry was left unanswered.

"And you will be forever banned from setting foot on Korean soil..."

"Please, hear me out"

"The only thing I will hear from you, Jiwon," her father paused as he glared at her. "Is the way your footstep echoes with every step they take towards the exit from this place,"

"You don't have to worry"

Miyeon found herself consoling her older sibling. The woman was clearly broken to bits but like their father had decreed, she would have to find herself a way out from Korea now that she was no longer a royal princess, let alone Her Royal Highness.

"I promise to you, once I'm Queen, I'll give your title back; all of of it,"
