Hardly perturbed by her recounting of his earlier claims or the fact that she'd mocked his voice, even, the ursid chuckled softly, tilting his head. Grasping her hand, he gently guided it away from his muzzle and back down to her side, tenderly stroking it with his thumb as he clarified his stance with a question. “You didn't really think I could spend the whole night with him, hmm?”
Grunting, the female wrenched her hand out of his hold, flinging her arms skyward in an expressive sentiment. “I don't know, maybe!?” She shrugged, a hint of uncertainty in her demeanor. “You just seemed so sure about it.”
"Well," He began, swiftly and gently enveloping her waist with his hands, drawing her close. The warmth and energy that emanated from his embrace enveloped her prior agitation, once more imbuing her with a sense of serene affection. Though she attempted to mask it behind a narrowed gaze, as the emotions welling within pressed down upon her, her eyes started to betray her inner conflict.
“You know me, Chi.”
He was correct though. She did. She knew of his aversion to the golden bear's company, and thus, she offered no further comment, simply blinking slowly as she looked elsewhere, tracing the ridge of his bowtie in pensive silence, before lifting her gaze to meet his once more as he softly intoned,
“Have something for you, by the way …”
Curiosity piquing at the periphery of her cognition, the avian’s head tipped sideways, her fingers halting in their motion. She inhibited the intent to speak, a miniscule twitch of her lower jaw a testament to it. Though, before she could proceed, the bear let go of her to lift his hat, retrieving something from underneath in one swift, fluid motion, such that it skipped her visual attention — whatever it was.
Freddy then pulled that hand down in a fist, concealing the object from her, and in turn playing with her mind as her intrigue elevated. He took his time, one step after the other as he deftly readjusted his hat with his free hand, then tentatively held the source of interest in between them, his grip firm, beckoning for her to unfurl its contents.
The yellow female blinked, inquisitive at first, before her magenta optics drew over to the hand in question. As she brushed a hand of her own over its fuzzy exterior, she squinted contemplatively, as if to guess on what she should be expecting inside. With limited knowledge, however, she could only go so far.
She only noted another twitch of his arm, urging her to unveil what was underneath his fingers. Stealing a glance at him, she saw him fixated on her, awaiting her next move. Deciding not to make him wait longer, the female chuckled, before gently grasping his hand from under, while prying his fingers loose with the other hand. It wasn’t too hard to achieve the desired outcome, as the bear was compliant all the way; what she laid her eyes on after might just be an explanation as to why.
A diminutive, shimmering stone sat in his palm, instantly reflecting several new rays of light into her eyes as its structure came under direct illumination.
Instantly, awe-filled silence ensued in the surroundings.
It was perhaps the most exquisite thing she’d seen in her waking memory. A saturated, amethystine stone, with a mixture of purple, pinkish hue scattered throughout its crystalline structure. The more she eyed it, the more its beauty just, mesmerized her, making her wonder of the genesis of its unique existence. Could something like this really be a part of this world?
Glittering beams of light danced across the stone, navigating her thoughts on the verge of disbelief. This was either an illusion, or something otherworldly, plucked from the depths of some sort of cosmic geode. Where and how Freddy had gotten it from … the question seemed to elude her.
Both to affirm her suspicions and examine the gem up close, she gently retrieved it from the ursine’s hand, allowing him to retract the previously extended appendage back to his side. The stone sparkled brighter upon eyeing it closely, causing her to move it around more and ascertain what else it did. Facing it towards the single kitchen light that was functioning on full power appeared to reveal a cosmic creation, filled with iridescent specks of brilliance that refracted and scattered in a fascinating display, resembling the unparalleled life of a galaxy. As she tilted it around in different angles, each movement engendered a completely novel tableau of hues, ranging from rich, velvety purple to alternating shades of lavender and amethyst.
“It's so .. pretty!” She exclaimed after some time, her voice tinged with genuine wonder and admiration.
Freddy emitted a snort at the remark, beholding the sight of his beloved in pure awe. Observing her examine the amethyst like a child somehow warmed his metaphorical heart more, leaving a mental note in himself that it was undoubtedly the right decision to bring her something like this, a testament to his profound understanding of her sensibilities. Chica adored lights of any nature; this was just the right gift to give.
“Reminded me of your eyes ...” He replied eventually, voice soft, tinged with affection.
A pause, as the weight of his words settled between them. The avian's gaze immediately veered towards him, finding him with his arms folded, lovingly regarding her. Oh, if animatronics could blush, she would be crimson all over, as his remark had her flustered to no end.
Scanning his visage for a lengthier duration, she was uncertain as to when precisely, had a fleeting smile flashed in her own gaze. The ursine had this certain, je ne sais quoi about him; one with the propensity of making one feel so special, all within a moment’s glory. This profound sense, was what had her servos elated more, seemingly forgetting to actuate any further, even. She was left stationary, transfixed in her current position.
That is until Freddy’s inquisitive and dulcet, “Chi?” possessed the ability to reboot her faculties, allowing her an instant reset as she blinked. Quickly, she extricated herself from that state of reverie, stealing a furtive glance at him in the process. Before long, her attention was redirected, and she was once more gazing at the small, glistening gemstone cradled within her palm. The diminutive stone served as a tangible testament to the depth and extent of his care, and that, in turn, had the effect of further amplifying her own love for him.
Silent and contemplative for several moments there onward, the chicken eventually uttered a soft-spoken and heartfelt, "Thank you..."
And, it was then that the other stepped forward once again to envelop her within the warm, comforting confines of his sturdy embrace, pressing her frame against his chest as he chuckled. “So, you're not angry anymore?”
Her brows arching slightly as perplexity compounded the complex emotional amalgam coursing through her, she scoffed lightly, reciprocating the embrace by wrapping her arms around him. One of her hands still clenched the amethyst tightly, as if it would somehow elude her grasp if she were to relinquish her hold, even for the briefest of moments. A couple of minutes elapsed, and ultimately, she had seemingly melted into that all-encompassing embrace, closing her eyes with a wispy, airy laugh. "Are you trying to bribe me?"
“Whatever you want to think~” He replied, his tone laced with an affectionate mirth ...
