Dinner Table: A Poem

To: The Girl I Stayed Friends With Way Too Long

I was talking about you

With my family

And when I said your name

It felt

Foreign

Distant

Something that was once mine

But no longer is

Someone that I knew

And now I don't

Our memories flashed before my eyes

In a matter of seconds

Like my life had ended

Because it had

But now

I'm starting a new life

Without you

And it doesn't hurt

As bad as I thought it would
