The party started late in the evening . Mia was greeting every visitor with a big smile while whispering to Sophia
"Why isn't Hugo here yet" Mia said angrily while shooting the visitor who greeted her a million dollar smile
"I didn't do anything" Sophia said
"I pray for your sake you are saying the truth" Mia said to Sophia "oh Hello" Mia said giving Valentina air kisses before looking at Sophia for reassurance
"You are no sunshine like Carlos thought imagine what he would do to you when he realizes you are just as dark as any mafia member" Sophia said . Mia ignored Sophia but the change in her mood was obvious to Sophia
When Hugo arrived the party was already in full swing but despite that Hugo located Sophia and ran towards her enveloping he in a big hug
"I looked all over for you but I couldn't find you no matter how hard I tried" Hugo said
"How are you copping with her death" Sophia asked
"It was my fault I left her all alone in the house" Hugo said burying his face on her chest . Sophia guilty it almost made her tell Hugo to warn his father right now so he wouldn't loose anybody again but she couldn't with Mia watching her
"I am sorry for leaving" Sophia said patting Hugo as she tried not to cry
"I am happy that Carlos is recognizing you once again" Hugo said looking at Sophia proudly
"You didn't even notice me". Mia said interrupting their reunion
"Oh hey Mia" Hugo said smiling at Mia
If only Hugo knew that the people he trusted were about to betray him in a way he would never have imagined . While Hugo was at the party talking to Mia their safe house was being raided not only was that happening there was a shoot out happening at the Alfonso's resident between them and the police because Mia and Carlos had provided the police with substantial evidence
"I can't wait to take you back home I have stocked the house with your favorite ice cream" Hugo said
Sophia wanted to tell him she wasn't worth it but she couldn't it was obvious Hugo was already broken he sounded so fragile and yet Mia and Carlos were going to break him further
"Why did papa Alfonso betray us?" Sophia said changing the mood
"It wasn't a betrayal Sophia" Mia said smiling a strained smile at Sophia
"You were implicating the Alfonso's with the lax way they managed the job and we were already being watched plus what you did Sophia it only made it worse and the police were trying to pin it on us so my father had to do that" Hugo answered honestly
"Did you try to stop him" Sophia asked
"I was angry when he worked with the police to have some of your buisness taken and when he brought them to your door step but I understood him" Hugo said
"Didn't you think that would have consequences" Sophia said coldly before walking away with Mia trailing after her
"What the fuck was that" Mia said grabbing Sophia with both her hands
"I didn't tell him" Sophia said trying to brush Mia off
"Didn't tell me what?" Hugo said standing few steps away from Sophia and Mia
