Chapter 101: Resplendent Times

“I was thinking,” Song Qinglan said, “if I grew up in Ning City as a child and went to the same elementary school, middle school etc as you, what would’ve happened?”

Ji Yushi had never thought about this question.
He couldn’t imagine what it would be like if he had Song Qinglan growing up with him.

“You asked me earlier what my thoughts were after seeing the seventeen-year-old you.” Song Qinglan continued, “I only had one thought at that time, and that was—–If I had never left Ning City, would we have gotten together earlier? If that was the case, you wouldn’t have been so lonely, and I would’ve been able to accompany you though the coming-of-age ceremony and accompany you when you joined Tianqiong. It didn’t matter whether or not I become a Guardian myself.”

Ji Yushi thought about it and answered seriously, “Perhaps in another parallel world, things really developed the way you described.”

The universe was infinite. The worlds were numerous.
Different choices made by a person could produce countless parallel worlds, and in each of them, they led a different life.

And he and Song Qinglan happened to be one of them.

Song Qinglan smiled, “If I have the opportunity to, I would like to go to such a parallel world and see.”

*

It was almost midnight when they were done eating.
Song Qinglan parked the car and then entered the elevator and went directly to the door to his place.

Because of his job, Song Qinglan had moved out from home and moved here. Except for his traces, there were no traces of any other life. Even Old Zhou and the other teammates rarely had the opportunity to come let alone Ji Yushi who was here for the first time.

As soon as they entered, the smart system automatically started up and the spacious and bright living room appeared before Ji Yushi.
The white-toned decorations were almost minimalist in style. At first glance, there was only a carpet and sofa in the living room. It made the three-metre high and seven- or eight-metre-long floor-to-ceiling window that reflected the Jiang City’s nightscape become the best decoration in the house.

The house keeping robot rolled over. It automatically picked up the belongings of its master and their guest and helped hang them up before going to the bathroom to prepare the water for their bath. It was done all in accordance with Song Qinglan’s habits.

Ji Yushi entered the living room. He looked at the floor-to-ceiling window first.
He noticed that from this angle, he could see the suspended train tracks stretching far into the distance.

A pair of arms embraced Ji Yushi from behind. Immediately afterwards, his ear was lightly bitten, leaving both a numb and itchy sensation.

Song Qinglan didn’t hold back, nor did he find it too sudden. He only relied on his tall height to openly take advantage of the other person, “After you left in the bubble world, I stood here and imagined whether those trains will bring you back from Ning City.”
Ji Yushi’s throat bobbed. His expression however remained indifferent.
Song Qinglan asked again, “Will you come?”

Just as Ji Yushi was about to say something, Song Qinglan kissed him on the neck and then ambiguously licked it. This action made a soft wet sound, making him forget what he was going to say.

As Song Qinglan softly kissed him, “Advisor Ji, it’s late.”
“Mhn.” Ji Yushi’s back was trembling slightly from the kiss, “Go wash.”

Those words were spoken a little lightly, the breathing unstable.
The content of his words however was filled with disgust, because Ji Yushi couldn’t tolerate his own smell.
