Sam: You paced restlessly along the hallway outside the bathroom waiting for Dean to haul ass outta there. Hidden behind you was a paper bag from the 24 hour chemist near the bunker; inside that little bag was a pregnancy test ready and waiting.

Over years and years of important objects, this once could prove to be the most important in your life; the most life changing even. How the hell were you supposed to raise a kid into this life? It wasn't fair, or right! What if they couldn't defend themselves? Or got hurt because of you? Better yet, what if they didn't want to be involved in this life and left you.

All these important questions and all you could think about was would they look like Sam? Sam, the person you loved most in this world, Sam who'd given you everything and more, Sam the father of your maybe child! Would the baby look like Sam, have his perfect eyes that seem to change colour depending on the light? If it was a boy, would he grow to be as tall and strong as Sam, or if it was a girl perhaps would she be as loving, caring and compassionate?

Thudding open, Dean clomps out to see you looking startled by his sudden appearance. Taking in your worried expression and hidden bag, he quickly comes to your side.

"What's wrong?" He asks scanning for danger. You shhhh him and usher him quietly into the bathroom with you. With him now as confused and startled as you are, you produce the pregnancy test from the paper bag.

"I'm late, Dean!" You blurted, words tumbling from your mouth like running water. "I'm late, I could be pregnant, Sam's the only guy who could be the father and I don't know what to do!" In the midst of your breakdown, Dean had taken to staring open mouthed at the test, half pointing between your slightly swollen belly and it. Maybe you were bloated maybe you weren't. It remained a mystery until the test was done.

"Little too much information there sis" he commented, earning a whack on the arm from you. "Fine! Just take the damn test and I'll wait till later to know okay?" You nodded, trying to slowly steady your rapidly growing breaths.

"What if I'm pregnant Dean?" You whimpered, leaning into his shoulder. "What about Sam?" You didn't want to mess up his life, with something he may not want. And Sam being the angel he is wouldn't complain and would silently suffer...

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Sammy will be fine, I promise. This could be a really good thing for us all. I'll see you later okay. As soon as it's done you go tell Sam and then tell me." He rubbed your shoulder lightly and trudged reluctantly back down the hall.

Alone now, and locked in the bathroom you followed the instructions: opened the pack, peed on the stick and set it aside.

3 minutes now.

All that mattered were those three minutes. To uncover truth, to really think about what you wanted. Would you like a baby? Of course, you'd love to be a mom. To have a kid with Sam was always a secret dream. But in the situation? How would you go about this? And Dean! Like he didn't have enough to worry about. Things were finally getting good, and you really didn't wanna mess anything up for either of the boys.

The timer beeped signalling the end of the test time. Your eyes travelled at a snails pace to the one thing that could change everything. And it all came into focus. The test was positive. You sank to your knees, not having the strength to hold yourself together any longer. You wanted to cry, laugh, smile. You wanted to scream out loud and jump in the air but at the same time you wanted to fret and worry. And Sam was the last step now.

Grabbing the test and some tissue, you picked yourself up and almost sprinted to his room. After three knocks, he uttered a hello and you entered. Sam sat up immediately, his golden locks falling over his face, which he pushed back with haste.

"What's up?" He inquired, observing your somber expression.

"Sam..." You whispered, not being able to choke out much more. "Sam I'm pregnant..." And with those last words, you exhaled the biggest breath and sank down next to him, ready to interpret his every reaction. But there wasn't anything to interpret, it was clear in his eyes.

At first his cheeks started to twitch, then his lips curled up at the corners and lastly his eyes shone with tears. Why did he look happy!? Was he actually happy! "Are you sure?" He whispered back, not able to contain his tears either. You nodded your head grabbing his hands.

"How are we going to do this Sam?" You asked. He pressed a finger to your lips lightly, telling you not to worry.

"We'll figure it out. We always do. This is good!" He smiled and sank into you, his face pressed into hair, your hands now burying into the plaid shirt on his back.

"I'm gonna be a father..." He choked out, smiling into your shoulder.

"No Sam, a father is just a blood relation. You'll care, you'll be there with them to ensure their life is what they want. You're not gonna be a father, you'll be a daddy..." You confessed, telling him all that you'd known.

He cried, and now your wish had been fulfilled; this secret longing for a happy family. You had a kid, someone who would grow to be better than you, to live the life they wanted, whether it be hunting or in the real world.

A kid with a choice.

A kid who was equally yours and the person you loved unconditionally; your Sam's.
