Arthur regretted it.

He regretted it as soon ad her hand pulled away and she slipped away out of the room, tears brimming in her eyes. Every fibre of his being told him to chase after her, yet his feet stayed firmly planted to the ground.

She was drunk, much more drunk than him. He wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he'd ruined the friendship once she realised upon waking up the next day what had happened.

He wished it hadn't been that way, but it had and now there was nothing he could do except replay the night over and over in his head. It was all that consumed his thoughts, desperation to go back and change the outcome.

Every spare minute, every passing thought, every silence was filled with thoughts of Maeve. He was infuriated with himself, often wanting to slap himself across the face and get some sense to return to his brain.

The truth was he was worried. Worried that everything would change now and so all he could do was think and attempt to come up with a plan to win her back.

Maeve on the other hand had been distracting herself in any way possible, not knowing what to do with herself when she wasn't with Arthur. She hated how dependant she felt on him and how she hadn't realised this was the case until now stunned her.

Going to the gym was what she spent a lot of her time doing over the next week, Chris inviting her out almost every evening to train with him. She'd also been teaching him yoga after each session, it along side Pilates being the only things that her typical workout routine consisted of until their recent outings.

"You want to go grab a coffee after?" Chris whispered causing Maeve to open one of her eyes in order to stare him down as he sat in the butterfly pose.

"Be quiet." She hushed, watching as his whole body slumped to the floor in boredom.

"Is it nearly over?"

"No."

"Can you end it now please?"

"Can you end it? As in, end your life." Maeve let out a frustrated groan at the man who couldn't bring himself to sit silently for longer than five minutes whilst in her company.

Chris only chuckled, wiping the sweat from his brow and taking a sip from the bottle she had brought with her.

"Coffee does sound good though." She laughed as got her shoes back on before rolling up her yoga mat and securing it with a wrap around band that had a handle in order for her to carry with her.

"Let's get one and we can chat." Chris smiled, the girl slung the mat over her shoulder and linked her spare arm with his as they made their way out of the gym.

The amount of time it took them to decide which coffee shop to enter was short to say the least. The area that they were in was new to Maeve and the café that Chris had wanted to take her to was a fair distance away, which neither of them fancied traversing in the pouring rain.

However despite this the one that they'd ended up in was gorgeous with hanging plants and beautiful, beaded lamp shades. It looked as though the building had initially been a library, the front half converted into a little counter full of cakes and the tables had been placed amongst the rows of book shelves that were stacked up to the ceiling.

"Course you'd pick that one." Chris chirped as he approached the girl with their coffee in hand, Maeve already sat at their table happily reading from a kids book about animals.

"Its got some great illustrations, you can't deny that." She shrugged making him chuckle, leaning over the table to look at the drawing of a spider that she was pointing towards.
