Chipped

You chip off my old nail polish

as I look deep in your eyes.

A dull ache in my lungs

leaving me unable to speak.

I'm glad you're finally here again,

I'm glad I'm not alone again.

You say something

but I can barely hear

over the loud voices telling me not to fuck this up,

because I can't afford to lose anyone again.

I have no one else to lose.

 You eventually had to leave,

and my ache was replaced with a warmth.

I had hope for a new beginning

but I can't afford to hope anymore,

not when I'm constantly let down.

You left once,

you'll always leave me again.
