Chapter 20 ~ Fire World

"I would break my back." Jessica complained.

"Just lift the damn hex-bar Jessica! Do you want to defeat Herobrine or not?" Petra sat on a backwards chair, putting her arms up on it.

"Fine, how will my super strength even kick in?" Jessica asked, stepping into the hex-bar.

"Well, you ever tried picking up 800 pounds?" Alex smirked.

Jessica groaned as she grabbed hold of the handles. She slowly breathed in and out and tried to pick it up but couldn't.

"See!" She groaned in annoyance, again.

"Jessica, focus! You can't get mad at yourself, we don't have time for this anymore. All you have to do is believe you can pick it up, trust me." Alex yelled.

Jessica gave her a stern look but went straight back over to the bar, and stepped in it. She closed her eyes and breathed in and out, then she carelessly picked up the 800 pounds.

She looked down and smiled widely.

"YES!!" Petra yelled as she knocked over her chair.

Jessica then placed it down and ran over to Petra for a hug.

"YES JESSICA! I knew it!" Alex cheered with excitement, "Now, try and throw it."

Jessica decided not to argue and picked up the sides of the hex-bar and threw it across the arena.

"Holy shit." Jessica smiled, out of breath.

Just then Lukas walked down into the arena.

"Hey Jessica? Food is ready is you're hungry." Lukas said looking at the three girls.

"Go ahead Jessica, Petra and I will set up some more challenging things for you." Alex said going to grab the weights.

Jessica then followed Lukas back to the kitchen with a jolly mood.

Jessica sat down at the island as Lukas grabbed her plate of food and placed it in front of her.

"I- I tried to get all the main food groups in there." Lukas said, giving her a fork.

"What is this? It smells so good." Jessica asked cutting into it.

"Well it's steak but Alex had some unique spices that I decided to try, then over her we have steamed carrots and mashed potatoes." Lukas smiled going to wash the dishes.

"How do you have so many talents?" Jessica said taking a bite of steak.

Lukas was puzzled, "What do you mean?" He asked, sitting across from her.

"I mean you're good at cooking, building, archery, horseback riding, writing, and-" She stopped and looked up at him in the eyes.

"And you're a really good friend." Jessica smiled.

Lukas looked deep in her eyes for a moment before he snapped out of his daze.

"You're a good friend too." Lukas smiled back, going to the fridge to get a drink.

Jessica quickly ate her food while the two of them talked.

"I've gotta say, you look jacked in a tank top." Lukas admitted, crossing his arms.

"These old things? Pft." Jessica bragged, taking the last bite of mashed potatoes, "Aren't you jacked too?"

"You could say so.." Lukas said but then was cut off by Nova walking in.

"Hey Lukas, do you know if Alex has any thyme? We need it for the potion." Nova leaned again the door frame.

Lukas got up from his seat and grabbed some from the cabinet. He leaned against the counter by the sink, and tossed the bottle to his sister.

"Thanks, and Jessica, Petra said they wanted you back in the arena when you were done eating." Nova said, tossing the herbs around in her hand.

"Gotcha, good luck with the potion!" Jessica said as Nova started to walk down the hallway.

"I can't believe I didn't get to watch her grow up." Lukas said in a sad tone, still leaning against the counter.

Jessica grabbed her plate and got up to place it into the sink, "Well it's not too late." Jessica smirked and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thanks for lunch, i'll see you soon!" Jessica said happily.

Lukas was frozen. He touched his cheek where she kissed him, he slightly turned red but cleared his throat and went to clean the rest of the dishes.
