Cliff pelted down the hall, using his wings to glide faster. The thumping of his own heart drowning out any noise.
The shadows chased him, and Cliff whipped his tail to try getting rid of them. The cave walls around him were enveloped in darkness, and he felt short bursts of panic in his mind.
The SkyWing ducked as a shadow floated above him, seemingly fueled by his fear.
"Peacemaker doesn't love you," the voices snarled in a sharp whisper.
"He does!" Cliff protested, feeling tears well in his eyes. "He truly does!"
"Are you sure?" The shadows got closer. "He's making you feel better for being the way you are."
Inclosing around him, Cliff let the darkness sink in. There wasn't any point in fighting against it, right?
(Short chapter I know...I don't have much motivation to write this book anymore but I'll try to make some random headcanons soon!)
