Decades of wars and unrest have clawed at the sides of Pyrrhia's dragons for as long as they can remember, and the tales of true peace and dragonets of prophecy are simply whispers of the past. Shrike has never been regarded by his tribe as a real SkyWing. His mother fell ill and passed away when he was a dragonet, and his father, a royal SeaWing, was executed by his dictatorial queen as soon as it was found out that he'd had an affair with a common SkyWing. Still, Shrike remains tethered to the Queen and his tribe. Years of lost wars, unfulfilled treaties, and an excessively lavish lifestyle lived by their ruler, Queen Markhor, have left the SkyWing tribe impoverished and starving, and Shrike, the princess's personal bodyguard, has witnessed the consequences of the Queen's ignorance firsthand. A diplomacy meeting with the SeaWings gone wrong erupts in yet another bloody war, and Shrike is swept up in battle before finding himself caught in between the jaws of the political turmoil that seem to be tearing his tribe apart from the inside out. To make matters worse, a warning delivered years before by the continentally renowned prophet, Hereafter, is unraveling before Shrike's eyes, and its exhortations seem like an echo chamber awfully reminiscent of his own life. That coupled with a newfound power in his claws leaves him spiraling and wondering one question: could 𝘩𝘦 be the terror of talons? ✦ Please read the introductory pages! And in those final moments, when you really don't know if you will live, you wonder, is dying now worse than living in something you hate so much. Do I live for something I despise? Local SandWing Mom finally hops on the bandwagon.

Long after the great Sandwing war, long after the Dragonets of Destiny have come and gone, there was a long era of peace between the clans. The price for peace, however, appears to have been boredom, and an ever-increasing tension between two of the clans. The Skywing kingdom and the Seawing kingdom have never been at greater odds, and after a few years of harsh tension and snappy comments during royal brunches and gathering events, the two Queens find themselves on the brink of war. Other kingdoms begin to ally with either side, and when the Seawing queen launches a seige on the Skywing's royal palace, tensions finally snap, and war is declared. A Skywing royal guard is given a mission. His mission is to negotiate peace, or take the Seawing queen down trying; a last resort by the Skywing queen, as she knows she isn't well prepared for an elongated battle. However, an unfortunate turn of events during the long journey halts the guard midway, and his mission takes a turn for the worst. The Skywing kingdom won't survive the war, and it's up to the lone soldier to bring it to a swift end-- If he can make it.
