As the battle continued in Earth's orbit, a small group of Shadow Covenant ships were sent to land troops on the planet's surface. A fleet which was known as the Fist of Shadows.

Out of the most baddest and most well known fleets, the Fist of Shadows was the most elite and well trained. Ships about 10-26, it had a large scale pyramid that was at least 10x bigger than the normal battleships. The crew and soldiers were some of the first ever warriors that were trained by Dark Master himself and they were considered as the First Generation.

As the fleet managed to reach towards the direction of Ethos Prime, a small number of cities and towns including Trostland managed to get word from the orbiting command ship that the Shadow Covenant had breached the defenses and were mounting an attack.

The GDC, Home Defense Guard, and many village militias took arms and prepared. Villages were placed under evacuation or lockdown orders and the fighters prepared for the biggest fight of their lives.

Shadow Covenant forces mounted their gunships and troop deployment carriers to where they began operations. They landed troops amongst the east and north sides of the GDC air defenses while fighter squadrons took most of them out.

The GDC fought to the bitter end but were no match against them. Shadow Covenant forces marched all over the planet and took major cities all over. In a matter of weeks, GDC troops were slowly getting pushed towards Ethos Prime.

The Cosmodromes meanwhile were suddenly attacked by raiders and those who fought alongside the Shadow Covenant and began bombing the sky ports. Towns all over the area were evacuated but those remaining lived under control of the most evilest of empires.

The Shadow Covenant's occupation on all cities they taken was hard and brutal. They established themselves as the new rulers of the planet and just like many worlds before earth, they promoted themselves as their savior and salvation. The religious order forced many to follow any rules they gave them or face immediate consequences.

Prisons, mines, supply bases, military outposts, and factories were all quickly repurposed to fund the war effort and scientists of the Shadow Covenant Weapons Program quickly worked on state of the art weapons and new forms of soldiers.

The occupation led to the enslavement of those who refused to pledge allegiance to them and those that did eventually became puppets or conscripted soldiers to fight in their army. The Shadow Covenant later introduced the caste system to the occupied territories and they also had to follow it as well.

As the front lines drew closer and closer to the capital, nearby towns quickly scrambled their defenses and began to send troops to aid the GDC who were being pushed back even further. The Home Defense Fleet eventually battled the Shadow Covenant ships that managed to get past their defense lines but were no match for them.

Shadow troops were too overpowered, well trained, advanced, and better equipped than any other army in the galaxy. About 90% of the world was under their control. And that was when the GDC realized that they might not win.

Eventually, Shadow Covenant forces managed to reach the capital city and a long lasting battle took place. Remaining GDC and their allies were forced to make refuge in the old command center used during the Red Legion invasion. Other GDC and the civilians were still fighting within the city walls and the limits. And that brings our story to the present.

As the GDC continued to holdout from all over the galaxy, Shadow Covenant forces led by Emperor Calus were sent to the Planet Neptune where a secret artifact laid underneath the colonial capital of Neomuna. Once they got their hands on it, there was no going back. The Shadow Covenant would finally win the war.

A small contingency of GDC infiltrated one of the ships and slightly sabotaged them but it wasn't enough to bring down the entire fleet. And another GDC force would eventually become close Allies with the local militias and the Cloudstriders who were the GDC's counterparts.

But even with new Allies, there might not have been a single chance of hope for anyone. Shadow Covenant forces were prepared for this fight for almost decades and the galaxy was unaware of it. The war was the only proof that the Galactic Federation would finally fall.
