Chapter 3

I felt my breath hitch there gaining on me!

Left right left right

"Elysia!"  A voice called I turned to see Jasper he nodded to me and I followed as we turned left rushing towards the gate Jasper took care of the guards as I entered the control room 'man this is all going to fast I'm not sure what to do!' I thought pain shot up my arm as I winced 'it's about time they did that' I thought using a key card from one of the guards to unlock the gate

I rushed out the room

"So!?" Miles asked panicked as more guards came forward "quick before they use a back up system or something!" I exclaimed as the gate began to slide open. Zack rushed out first then Aurora and Jasper the gate started to close again 'shit the back up system!' I thought angrily "go!" Miles yelled as we rushed out of the gate .

That's when I realised we where out.

"Run! Just keep running until we reach over the cliff!" Jasper ordered and we did finally we were far away from both the capital and the lab sitting on the high hill I gasped for breath

'Finally'

I thought lying down on the grassy floor

'We're out'

'Seven years of my life and I'm out...'

I let out a sigh if relief to think I had been holding my breath for a while now "we're out", Zack panted

"We're out!" He said with a smile on his face as he lay down next to me "congratulations Zack you only spent a year in there", I muttered darkly "I'm out after seven years I think it's a little late to celebrate my freedom"

"Oh shut up!" Miles grumbled sitting down on my other side just like our room had been arranged Miles on my right Zack on my left.

"I can't believe that actually worked good thing you know you're way around Elysia", Aurora sounded shocked

"Wait a second how do you know you're way around?" Jasper asked I looked up at the stars and sighed sitting up looking down and the lit up city below

"You really think I sat down and did nothing for seven years?" I gave Jasper a look "I've tried to escape multiple times I know every exit there is in that place until..." I paused 'the incident happened' I thought grimly "until what?" Miles asked seeming into the story I frowned "something happened and I gave up", I said cutting it short and sitting up "what happened though"Aurora tried her luck I sighed not bothered to argue "an incident with the person next door to me they killed him because of my stupidness that's why I never bothered really don't like to really remember the scene and talk about it so that's all I'm saying" I said firmly "which side of the room?" Zack whispered "The right" I muttered "they changed my room but Like all of them look the same so it's kinda hard to tell", I said flicking a piece of my black hair behind my shoulder.

"Did you ever talk to anyone other than us? You said you're roommate the one on the right was killed because of you so that means you guys talked am I right?" Miles asked after a long pause I stayed silent and changed the subject "it's quite late I think we all gotta get some rest while it's still dark we can decided what to do in the morning" "you're right", Jasper agreed "but someone's gotta keep watch we can take turns"  "ok then I'll take the first watch" I said "I'll take the second then" Miles said "then I'll take the third watch" Aurora chipped in "so we just sleep on the floor?" Zack asked "yea just for tonight we'll figure something out later" Jasper muttered "also Aurora if you get tired then wake me up" she nodded in reply "should we set a fire to keep warm?" Aurora suggested "yea I'll do that" jasper said grabbing a few sticks from a nearby dead tree he put them in a pile carelessly and then put his hand out in front of it shooting a ball of fire which made it go up in flames "so a fire gift..." Miles muttered "yea I burnt a guard it felt great" Jasper smiled I shivered at the thought yes they were horrible but still burning them like how they burnt my parents the image in my head was disgusting nearly making me gag. "So you're a gifted" Zack asked "yea I have two gifts fire and earth" Jasper explained "cool! What about you Miles?" Zack asked turning to him "ah fun fact I have the exact opposite of Jasper  water ice and air" Miles chuckled "and you Elysia?" Zack asked turning to me "what about Aurora I said turning the conversation to her "and you Zack?" "Oh for me I can control water and use it to heal but that's it" Aurora said "I'm a hygift!" Zack said proudly I froze at that word "aren't you a hybrid?" I asked confused "no I'm a hygift look!" Zack clasped his hands together as an ivy shot out of the ground I blinked twice "you're a hygift!" I said shocked standing up "y-yes" Zack said confused "why is there a problem with that?" Miles asked I sighed sitting back down "nothing it's nothing" I muttered "so what's you're gift?" Miles asked then I stayed silent "Elysia?" Zack called I ignored

'A hygift'
I thought
'A type two hygift is what they called me'
'I never met my spirit animal though'
'I've only met one person in the hole lab that was like me'
'Alex told me we might be the only ones'
'Since there weren't many in the world'
'But we weren't'
'There could be more and we just didn't know'
'Now that I think of it there could be much more'
'But it doesn't make sense'
'It really doesn't I'm trying to remember what it was like back then'
'I remember dad a bit... he looked like me black hair... reddish pinkish eyes'
'And mother had silver hair and dark blue eyes'
'I remember there voices a bit just hints here and there'
'The house... I don't remember much there was a rocking chair and a nice fire place I think we had a pet wolf that dad had trained I do remember a lake though a tree with a rose drawn on it that father showed me'
'We used to go to that lake often'
'I remember.... The forest and the bakery... then... the fire the burnt bodies... the people that killed my parents... the screams'
'The pain and fear.... Them telling me to run then being caught'

I sat down on a nearby rock looking down on the capital

'I can't get distracted now' I told myself 'just keep watch you'll have plenty of time to think later'

'What if I found the village?' My mind told me 'maybe you'd remember more...'

I sighed it felt like five minutes when something tapped me on my shoulder I nearly jumped

"It's only me idiot" Miles chuckled "sorry" i muttered "you should have herd me coming I mean I'd someone attacked we'd all be dead right now" Miles said matter of factly "I got lost in my thought for a second sorry" I told him he looked at my wrist "oh yea we never got rid of the wrist band" Miles muttered "oh yea I actually forgot I had it on" I chuckled "my hand went numb so I couldn't feel the pain now I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing.."  "that's a bad thing!" Miles exclaimed "shut up! You'll wake someone up" I yelled silently at him looking at the rest all sleeping soundly "give me you're hand" Miles sighed sitting next to me I rolled my eyes holding my hand out the metal band was tightly around my wrist an icicle formed from Miles's palm.

"Stupid band!" Miles grumbled I chuckled he had tried everything slipping the icicle under the band and trying to break it getting the card and scanning the band over and over on the little screen he summoned created an icicle once more "fine last attempt but I'm not sure what'll happen so like" "do what ever you want" I said he got the icicle and stabbed the mini screen which broke in seconds as it electrocuted me I winced as pain shot up my arm holding my wrist I felt nothing there "finally!" Miles exclaimed "it's off!" A red mark from where the band had been but nothing else "you're one was on more tighter I wonder why" Miles muttered I looked away 'I think I know why' I thought "so you gonna explain why you acted weird about Zack?" Miles asked "you own me one for the band" I sighed I hadn't asked him to take it off but then again it had been hurting

"fine" I said after a while "I'm a hygift" Miles fell silent "I kinda guessed" Miles muttered "but it doesn't explain-"

"There aren't many hygifts left... I thought me and someone else where the only ones " i said the last bit more quietly "in the hole world?" Miles asked "no in the lab" i grumbled "there's definitely more out there I just haven't met them yet" I shrugged "not like I could before" "well you should get some rest I'll take watch now" Miles suggested changing the subject more like ending it and I understood that nodding my head I got up.
