This time, I ran throught the woods. I was still pretty fast in my human form, but not as fast as when I shifted and definitely not fast enough to keep up with the boys in my current state. I could hear the sound of fighting a few miles up ahead, and I slowed my pace- not wanting to alarm anybody.

Once I reached the small clearing surrounded by trees, I saw the wolves and the Cullens separated on either side.  Everyone was in their wolf form, besides myself.

"Did my invitation get lost or something?" I spoke up, searching for my sister in the mass. She stood hand in hand with Alice, while Edward stood between the two species- presumably translating for the pack with his gift.

"Athena. I didn't think you'd be joining us." The man who I recognized as Carlisle spoke.

"Apparently neither did anyone else." I turned my head to the pack, sending them an annoyed look "I'm not made of paper, you know. I can fight."

"Out of the question." Jasper immediately followed after.

A low growl resonated from a few of the pack members, and I rolled my eyes- losing patience by the second.

"Says who?"

Sams growl gave me my answer, and instinctively I shut my mouth. I couldn't understand them right now, but I knew what that meant.

"Since when is Jasper worried about my sister?" Bella whispered to Alice under her breath, but I'm sure everyone still heard her clearly.

Carlisle pulled a small, polite smile- clasping his hands together "Can you shift, Athena?"

I clenched my jaw, shoving my hands into my pockets. I should've just went home in that moment, but I was to stubborn to take no for an answer. Especially when it came to the safety of my pack and my family.

"I don't know...but I'm strong enough in my human form to take a bloodsucker down." I shrugged, unsure of what I was saying but unable to shut up.

"Is that so?" Jasper raised an eyebrow, "If you can land a hit on me, I'm sure your fully capable of holding your own against a newborn. Assuming you have no value for your child's life that is."

Time to put my money where my mouth is.

"And if I cant?"

"You go home, and sit this out like you should have to begin with." He answered cooly. I scoffed, unzipping my hoodie to reveal my small stomach bump under my black T-shirt.

I could feel everyone's scrutinizing gazes on me, but I shook them off. This was about more than just my pride. I had a child to protect now, and I'd be damned if I just sat on the side lines while everyone else fought.

"Sounds easy enough. Let's do this."

I had little to no training when it came to fighting, but I was counting on my instincts to protect and support me here.

Hopefully that was enough.

I approached the small clearing, stopping a few feet from my bloodsinger.
