Mind flayer pov:

Tremors...

Explosions...

Flames...

The nautiloid I am stationed on is being attacked by our own slaves!

I am attempting to regain control of the ship and take us back to our territory, but most of the nerves of the transponder are missing!

Either cut off by the slave that took control temporarily or damaged by their attempts of liberation,

The ship is malfunctioning. We are teleporting from realm to realm! I am trying to direct this flaming vessel back to the Astral planes, but it simply refuses to obey!

Other mind flayer: "The thralls are being executed. Why are we still in the realms of faerûn?"

Me: "The ship is denying me control. Keep the slaves at bay, I will get us back to penumbra, one way or the other!"

The other mind flayer levitated back to the door. It and two others were providing adequate defence, despite being on borrowed time

I continued to connect whatever nerves I could, anything that could get the ship to travel to the empire and prevent the rebellious from succeeding

I spent an extra two minutes attaching broken pieces of the nerves. Each piece was obviously not fit for the other, but it was better than nothing

Slaves: "Hta'zith Ghaik!!!"

The slaves were piling through the sphincter, stumbling over each other and the other illithid corpses in a blind rage

However, the nautiloid successfully entered realm travel and sent the rebels flying in many directions, most of which led to the silver void, I gripped the nerves to maintain my footing and not suffer the same fate

As we travelled through the realms, we began to... shift off course?

I knew the specific patterns that the ship took like the back of my hand, and yet, this one was new to me

We exited out of realm travel and were greeted with a giant metal structure! I managed to steer the ship in time to avoid any extra damage, but the engines had finally given out... the nerves became sloppy, and we began to descend rapidly...

My fate was at an end... the presence of the elder brain had left me... to die... my purpose was served, and I was removed effectively...

...

...No...

No no no no!!!

...I can't die here!

I WILL NOT DIE HERE!!!

Fuelled by an unknown source of survival, I let go of the nerves of the transponder, and I used my power of flight to exit through one of the open windows and into the night sky.

After reaching a few feet into the air, I looked down and saw the nautiloid crash into a road and into human pedestrians.

I decended down onto the concrete floor, the sounds of humans screams of pain and terror was annoying, i had half the mind to end them so they'd shut up but the wreckage of the nautiloid required my attention

Me: "Odd... it hasn't combusted yet. Maybe it can be-"

I spoke too soon.

The nautiloid did indeed combust and sent me flying into a nearby alley and into a solid wall. My head smashed into said wall, and darkness took me.
