✨Side Story 27: One Step at a Time✨

"Ahaha..." Angel awkwardly chuckles as she continues to listen to his complaints while cooking. At least he's expressing himself more than when we met him. After Scarabia incidents, Angel has been helping Jamil deal with Kalim. It didn't seem right to her that Jamil was the one doing mostly everything while Kalim sat to be waited on, or in better terms, made this worse. She saw that Kalim was trying his best to try and do simple chores, but she guess having people serve his every move limited him, not even knowing what to do without a little bit of guidance to start. Who knew something as simple as sweeping could cause a full-on hurricane of dust to settle in front of Kalim as he just holds the broom. She knows that Kalim has good intentions, but without proper skills, he won't be able to do things on his own, to make things better at least. He did try to teach her some information he's learned in his classes, but, luckily, Jade and Azul stepped forward, correcting his information, making her a bit confused. She did see that he tried to help other students with heavy lifting, only for things to break, with him laughing it off as an accident, but helping them clean up nonetheless. His good nature is a rarity in the school that she's seen so far, but with troubles following it afterwards, is a bit of a problem. She even felt sympathy for Jamil, as he does for her. They both let out a sigh, realizing they each have their own version of a troublemaker under their supervision. Seems like we don't catch a break She thinks as she reminds herself of the times that both of them got into trouble because of Grim's antics.

Suddenly, the door burst open, seeing the person of topic walk in. "Jamil!" Kalim happily says. "I've found you!"

"Ugh. And here he is," Jamil mutters. "What is it this time, Kalim?"

"Oh, it's nothing. Just looking for you," he says as he walks into the kitchen, seeing pots and pans full of food.

"Did you do the things I've set for you?" Jamil asks as he stirs a pot.

"Yep! I even let Grim handle some of the items as well!" He happily says. "Who knew he had a great eye for decoration, saying that we should have diamonds as a table decoration. I opted out for rubies but he said that they were more sparkly, so it was good!" He smiles.

The statement shocks Angel, making Jamil sigh. "I've told you, Kalim. Having jewels out is not good for the Asim family, no matter how rich you are. You never know who would steal them." Right...I keep forgetting that Kalim is the richest person in the world.

"Yeah, but it's such a good decoration piece," Kalim states. "Anyway, you guys are cooking right? Can I help?"

It was Jamil's turn to be shocked. "No," he adamantly says. "You can't help."

"Aw, but Jamil! You get to hang out with Angel, and I want to hang out with her as well!" Kalim whines. "Plus, Floyd and Jade said that I was good at cooking, so I can help as well."

"One, we're not 'hanging out'. She's helping me with dinner," Jamil states. "Two, you were just stirring the pot. There's more to cooking than that."

"But I can do something!" Kalim says. "I want to do something and help! We're equals, right, Jamil?"

Jamil looked at Kalim, thinking about the situation. Even Angel felt sympathy for Kalim. She knows he's trying, so why not let him help? "Having more hands is good, Jamil," she quietly says, and Kalim's face starts to brighten. "Why not let him do something simple, like make the salad?"

Jamil looks at the two, giving him pleading looks, and sighs. "Fine," he says, making the two cheer. "But, you can't use knives unless I'm watching you, for safety reasons."

"That's fine!" Kalim smiles as he heads over to Jamil. He looks down at the counter, seeing that there were an assortment of knives. "So, what do I do first?" He asks as he slowly moves his hand to a knife.
