"Hey, Niki." Lisa greeted her before pulling out the stool and sat beside her.
"Hey, Lisa." Niki greeted back as she looked around the cafe. She was expecting to see a glare coming from a certain cat-eyed lady. Sure enough seconds after that thought passed, she watched Jennie walk leisurely towards them holding 2 cups of Ice Americano while her eyes reflected her famous glare. Niki turned back her attention to Lisa when she felt the taller girl poking her shoulder.
"Jisoonie said you're leaving."
Niki nodded her head. "Today will be my last day. I just need to get the clearance forms from Mrs Nim."
"I hope everything goes well for you." Lisa replied as she patted her arm comfortingly.
Before Niki could say thanks for her kind words, she heard Jennie softly calling out. "Li..."
She pretended not to notice the way Lisa quickly stood up when Jennie called up her name, taking both the coffee away from Jennie's hands as she waited for Jennie to sit comfortably on her other side before she went back to her own stool. She then passed Jennie her drink not before taking off the straw cover and putting it in the cup. Afterwards she carefully wrapped her left arm around Jennie's waist as if guarding the older girl from accidently falling. Only when Jennie pulled out her phone, seeming to be engrossed in whatever she was reading, did Lisa's eyes go back to her.
"What’s your plan after this?"
Niki shrugged her shoulders. "Firstly, I need to find a job."
Lisa gestured to the advert she was looking at earlier. "How's that going?"
"Not that good. Those that offered good money were too far from where I'm staying now. Those nearby will not accept anyone without a degree."
"Are you still staying at the dorm?"
"Yes. Sorn and Minnie let me stay until I find a job and save enough money to get a place on my own. But of course I'm not a freeloader. I'm doing their laundry and other household chores for payment."
"Good for you, then. Maybe that's just what you need to learn how the world works." Jennie suddenly spoke up.
Niki raised her eyebrows. She didn't understand what Jennie meant by that. Before she could ask further, Jennie nudged her shoulder against Lisa. "That’s enough, Lili. Let’s go. We need to be at the meeting in half an hour and I need to get ready."
"Okay. Niki…I wish you the best of luck in finding a job that you like. I hope we'll get to meet again in the future." This time Lisa offered her right hand for a handshake and Niki didn't hesitate to take it.
"I'm glad I'm able to get to know you, Lisa. Till we meet again."
Jennie didn't offer her hand, instead she just nodded her head to her as acknowledgement before she took Lisa's hand and pulled her away towards the exit. Lisa followed closely not without glancing back and waving Niki goodbye. She felt herself smiling at Lisa's antics.
She went back to reading the newspaper. She just needs to see if she missed out any interesting job offers before she got interrupted earlier. She let out a long sigh after a few minutes. Nothing changed. There's nothing here for her today. Maybe she could ask for a part time job at the convenience store. They are always looking for one if she remembers correctly. Niki folded the newspaper and put it into her backpack. It's time to get on with her life. She stood up and walked toward the admin office.
Outside of YG University, Lisa let Jennie go into the waiting car first before she closed the door and ran to the other side. She heard the driver try to catch up with her. Before she could touch the door, Mr Yang grabbed it and opened it for her.
