SIX YEARS AGO

Jane, just like any other regular girl, confidently made her way through the bustling hallways of her school.

With determination in her eyes and a sense of purpose, she skillfully maneuvered through the maze of students, lockers, and classrooms.

With each step, she could feel the excitement and anticipation building, eager to embark on another day of learning and growth. As she walked, she couldn't help but notice the vibrant energy that filled the air, the sound of laughter and chatter echoing around her.

"Jane!" a voice called out from behind her, catching her attention. She turned around to see who it was, curious to discover who was trying to get her attention.

"Oh hey Sidney," Jane replied with a bright smile on her face. Sidney, her high school best friend, always had a way of bringing joy to her day. It was a pleasant surprise to see them in the bustling school hallway. They quickly embraced in a warm hug.

"Alright, spill the tea! What's the news?" Jane eagerly responded, her curiosity piqued. She leaned in closer, ready to listen and share in Sidney's excitement or concern.

"Guess what? Josh asked about you at the bonfire! How sweet is that? You must have left quite an impression!" Sidney exclaimed.

Jane's face lit up with joy as she replied, "Aww, that's so nice of him!" They continued walking to class, their excitement lingering in the air.

"Sophie was there too, I had quite the conversation with her." Sidney added.

Jane's smile faded as she asked, "You talked to her?"

Sidney defended Sophie, saying, "Well, she's my friend too, and she's actually really nice."

Jane felt a pang of regret and added, "I guess I should have came to the bonfire then."

Sidney looked at her, a bit annoyed, and said, "Hey, can you please stop being rude on her behalf? She's a genuinely nice person, and I don't understand why you don't like her."

Jane replied, "Maybe because you've been talking to her more than me."

Sidney's tone shifted, "You're not my only friend, Jane. And you're not my wife. You should feel lucky that I'm even talking to you."

With that, Sidney quickly walked into class and took a seat.

NOW

Jane's eyes widened as she took a sudden gasp of air, jolting awake in the cabin. All eyes were fixed on her, filled with surprise and curiosity.

"Wait, why's everyone giving me that look?" Jane questioned, her voice tinged with surprise and a hint of concern, as she lifted herself up from lying down.

"Maybe 'cause you were talkin' in your sleep," Jacob chimed in, causing Jane's eyes to widen in disbelief.

"Wait, what?" she exclaimed, clearly caught off guard by the revelation.

"Uh, yeah... Who's Sidney?" Annalise asked curiously.

Jane's response was quick and defensive, "That's none of your business!" she snapped, clearly not wanting to discuss it further.

Jane then stood up and walked away, leaving everyone behind.

Annalise whispered to Jacob, "What's her problem?"

Jacob replied, "Leave her be, she's going through a tough time."

Annalise expressed her understanding, saying, "Yeah, I know, but it would be nice if she showed us some respect."
