Pain.
Writing notes was always a pain for Enid. Whether it was just two or three words or a full essay, it was always unpleasant. And the worse part of it was that they were required to use tablets for the notes.
Her parents obliged and bought her one, but she found herself looking through social media and watching movies more often than actually writing notes.
When she needed to study for an exam she always took Yoko's notes and studied from them, and it always worked.
Until the last exam day...
That's where it all went down.
And also up...
"Miss Sinclair, I'm sorry, but since you have not shown any signs of actually paying attention, and were just studying for the specific exams, I am forced to move you a grade lower."
These words were hard for her since she was in the last year, and after the final exam, she was going to be free from everything school-related.
But after the first few days in the lower grade, she was becoming grateful for it and actually began writing notes.
It was because of a girl that was in front of her in the class.
The girl's hair was black as charcoal, dividing into two perfect straight braidings that rested on her shoulders. Her uniform was black and gray, unlike the rest of the students. And she had this stare that made everyone scared.
She had learned the first day that it was a girl named Wednesday Addams, who was a psychic. Unlike other psychics, no one has seen her do anything that would show she was indeed a psychic.
And also, she shared a wall with that girl.
"I don't know Yoko, pick the blue one I guess," Enid said, looking at her phone and also in her notes regularly.
"Okay." Her friend on the opposite side of the call said. "It looks good with these shoes, right?"
"Yes, it does," Enid said, not even lifting her head from the notes. Since she was dysgraphic, she had a hard time reading after herself. And it quickly became visible in her scores, which were lower even though she was repeating the class.
"If you can't read your notes, go ask that creepy girl next door," Yoko suggested. "She might give them to you."
"I doubt it," Enid said and looked up at the clock. "But I should try because I won't learn a shit."
She hung up on Yoko and took a deep breath. She didn't really want to go to the room next door, but it was the only possible action she could do now.
The girl stood up from her chair and readjusted her pajamas since she was already ready to go to bed. Giving a quick look in the mirror to make sure she looked at least like a human, she walked out of her dorm room and to her neighbor's door.
Giving it a single knock, she hoped the psychic girl wasn't doing any incinerating.
"Come in." Came out of the room. Enid opened the door, appearing in a kind of strange room.
There were many plain black fabrics all around the room, mostly on the windows. The bed, the table, and almost everything was in dark colors. And behind the table, on which stood a typewriter, sat the girl itself.
"Um." "You want something, Sinclair?" Wednesday asked.
"I'm Enid." "I know, but it sounds better to call you your last name," Wednesday said. "Spill it out or leave."
